Here in Massachusetts, the impact is real: workers afraid to show up, children missing school, families living in fear, and local economies disrupted.

As the FY 27 budget cycle begins and legislative session comes to a close, those in power must listen to grassroots, community, and labor leaders.

MassBudget stands with partners to defend an inclusive democracy

Across the country, we are seeing the elimination of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs to cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, WIC, and Head Start, and federal immigration policies that separate families and destabilize communities.

✅Ensure our tax code is equitable and responsive to the needs of all residents — not just the wealthiest few
✅ Strengthen state fiscal stability and give lawmakers time to thoughtfully consider major federal tax shifts before they automatically take effect here in Massachusetts

This bill offers a proactive way for Massachusetts to:

✅ Protect critical revenue by delaying and refining how federal tax changes are adopted into state law
✅ Preserve funding for essential services that support our communities

Without thoughtful state policy, these federal changes would result in large revenue losses for Massachusetts — disproportionately benefiting the wealthiest households and corporations while leaving everyday families behind.

In his testimony, Phineas stated that the bill takes steps towards protecting the Commonwealth from bearing the full brunt of the deep tax cuts enacted at the federal level in last summer’s sweeping “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (OB3).
