Scattered local jurisdictions pulling their weight on the housing crisis isn't enough, we need statewide support - and HB 2266 provides it.
Two local Councilmembers in Spokane and Aberdeen on the STEP Housing bill that just passed #WALeg 🥳

The State Senate just approved Washington's elevator reform bill 41-6 after it was amended in the House, sending it to the Governor's desk.
The House's amendments removed language around international harmonization but it still represents a major reform for elevators in smaller buildings.
This morning's concurrence votes included HB 2266, for more STEP housing! It was voted out clean, and is officially on it's way to @governorferguson.bsky.social for signature 👏
We're only powerful because of our advocates! Thanks to everyone that emailed their legislators, posted on social media, got their friends involved and more.
Excited to be building a land use movement with all of you!
Even more big news, SB 5156, the bill to allow smaller elevators passed the House! Shoutout to @sightline.org for their leadership on this bill.

It's Week 4 in the legislature, also known as "The Week of Wailing" (j/k I made that up. Kinda.) Any bills that do not advance out of their policy committees by Wednesday are dead for the year. Any bills that do not advance out of a fiscal committee by Monday, are also dead for the year. #waleg
