As with many things, I love Terry Prachett's take on this in The Truth, where at the end Mr Tulip understands what it means to actually be sorry for your sins, and Mr Pin... Does not.

Well that's weird as hell, the avatar and the header are there as blobs; I can find the reference to them in my accounts sqlitedb, but they're sat in the `blocks/tempt/<did>` folder, and don't ever seem to be getting processed into the main `blocks/<did>` folder. No errors in the pds logs either 🤷♂️
Yeah, the blob store in the backup looks correct, so I'm not sure what's not working, but that's a tool I'd not heard of, so I'll give that a go and see if it fixes anything!
Good to know posts are still working, but I can't set or change my avatar, Header image, or profile text :/
Well I restored my bsky pds from backup after a nas crash... and my repo is completely banjaxed. This message may or may not come through, but I think I might have to give up and start my account over from scratch if not...
I don't know about the others, but for Google Cloud at least, they don't tell you when they're out of GPUs. You have to click the button to actually start the instance, wait for it to process and cross your fingers that it decides to start instead of returning an error that it doesn't have capacity.
Tbh "it received no development past its initial 0.1 release" is probably a good metaphor for the long term health of the AI industry.
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Every British person on the internet is complaining about you
...And I still have to enter a TOTP code when I log in with a passkey, so let's knock another star off for that and go negative.
Screenshot of the Passkey page of my account on amazon.co.uk. Two passkeys are listed, both with the Apple logo by them, and the title 'iCloud Keychain'. Underneath each is the setup date, both of which are set to today. The only other option on display is the trash can to delete them.
I no longer use #Amazon, but I still keep my account so I can access my old purchases; I saw they've got #passkey support now, so I decided to test it out.
0/5 stars. One of these is the default *Android* provider, the other is a Yubikey. And I can't rename them even if I could tell them apart.
This has to be the most reluctant repost I've ever given, but if I had to suffer that pun, everyone else must as well.
One thing that never came up in the Dune books, is that sandworms draw NSFW art, but you'd never know it because the few that post their work online, do so from behind anonymous accounts. They are hesitant to reveal themselves as naughty nibbers.
That's why the Fremen call them "Shy Who Lewds"
Ok, someone needs to come to my house and check if I'm suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning, because I actually *like* the new Jira UI.

Having redeployed my #homelab CA recently, I wrote a post about automating SSH Certificate deployment with puppet; and then how to hack SSH certs into the bits of my lab not managed with Puppet.
Spoilers, very few tools are ready for short lived certs, ssh or tls.

The moon has begun eating the sun! Paniiic!
(Forgive potato quality photo, I'm stuck using a seven year old phone camera through a pair of cheap cardboard eclipse glasses :p)

What my prescription contained: Amfexa (amphetamines)
What the pharmacy delivered: Adaflex (melatonin)
Not sure they could have got the intended effects more wrong there really...
Sadly, I doubt it's that many. Most people don't use ad blockers anyway, and of those who do, most will get by with uBlock Origin Lite.
Thinking back to a number of college and uni lectures that I failed to pay attention to, well. I definitely could have done better had I been diagnosed earlier. Still, better to find out now than wait *another* ten years.
Today was the first All Hands meeting at $dayJob since I started on my #ADHD meds... They really make a difference. If this persists, and is actually how neurotypical people experience meetings, then wow. I have been struggling and missing out for *years*
Why can't my brain think of these things *before* I deploy my overly elaborate contraptions?
I've spent the last 2 days at $DayJob bashing my head against a problem. Finally got a solution deployed last night.
Woke up suddenly at 4am this morning realizing that I massively over engineered it, and could have solved it with about 3 #IPTables rules instead.
🤦♂️
The one time my hometown club gets mentioned by John, and it's because we're 2-0 and a red card down 😭
Slightly different Blog Post today, where I've written about automatically backing up Actual Budget. I've tried to aim it at the level of a novice Actual Admin, I'd appreciate feedback on if I've hit the mark there! i.am.eddmil.es/posts/backup...

Photograph of my Steam Deck sitting in my lap. On the screen, Death Stranding is being played. The current scene shows a table, and on top of the table are five cans of Monster Energy arranged haphazardly. The player's reticule is over one of the cans, and there is a prompt on screen telling the player to press X to drink a can of Monster.
Me: I can't drink Monster on my new meds, so I'll play a game to keep my mind off the caffeine withdrawal. I know, I haven't played Death Stranding yet, so I'll give that a go.
Death Stranding:
Now I'm not saying my friends and I are ever so slightly pedantic, but I was phoned today, while I was working, to adjudicate an argument between my married friends over what the upper bound is for what you can refer to as 'scores of <x>'
(The upper bound is 100, and if you disagree, you're wrong.)
#Fortinet have dropped 29 security updates today, 14 of which are rated "high" or "critical". Have fun everyone.

Screenshot of a subset of documentation being written in Google drive. The text reads: b. Hit the three dot menu again, and choose “Reassign to another project” and move it to the <redacted> project c. Get an error message telling you to wait 20 minutes. d. Wait 20 minutes. Contemplate what you did to make Google hate you enough to make this step necessary.
Never let it be said that I write unprofessional documentation.
Having spent the morning trying to discuss which new Dell maps to our existing hardware at work; my main take away so far from #CES2025 is: *Every* company there is failing at one of the two hard problems in computer science, and I'm not talking about cache invalidation or off-by-one errors.
