An update: Northwestern University has still not received any funds from NIH since March 26, 2025.

We still have not received written communication stating that the funds are frozen, the reason why, or what can be done to restore it.

My NSF predoctoral fellowship was what launched my scientific career. NSF has done so much good for me and many others. Much ❤️ to the NSF and much thanks for all that have shepherded such an important agency

This is my university and my research home. It is not normal. It could be the future for more than Northwestern.

Nature is bringing me good feels. Thank you Momma Robin for trusting our gazebo with your babies! We promise to be good neighbors ❤️❤️

Harvard Will Not Comply With a List of Trump Administration Demands Federal officials said Harvard must enact “merit-based reform” in hiring and admissions and report international students who broke rules, among other steps. Harvard called the demands unlawful.

Congratulations to Steven Tran! The first PhD from my lab and a talented informatics scientist. I am beyond happy today after his successful thesis defense.

A very smart colleague just pointed out the grim truth that the U.S. leaving the WHO may ultimately be a win for the rest of the world. Why? Because without a vote, “the US can't block WHO actions like vaccine programs, disease surveillance, contraception, etc”. Man, that is daaaark, but accurate.
