'Men owe us what we imagine they will give us. We must forgive them this debt. To accept the fact that they are other than the creatures of our imagination is to imitate the renunciation of God. I also am other than what I imagine myself to be. To know this is forgiveness.'
Simone Weil
A while back I went on retreat with some Nuns, and during it I entered the Great Silence, which didn't just mean no talking, but also no consuming of anything which might distract myself from listening to God and that meant no listening to music, no watching anything, no phone, not even any reading.

It's a hard time of year when things don't feel like they're going so well for sure, and it can feel particularly heavy. Maybe there were different choices, maybe you made the best ones you could, but hope exists in the choices ahead of you. Today, be kind to yourself and please reach out to people
The Cost of Discipleship - Bonhoeffer
I started ringing church bells when I was 8 - fell out of it at about 14 - took it up again this year (in Feb) after a 25 year break and tonight rang my first 1/4 peal (unplanned and pretty impromptu). Very happy with that :)
I've spent a lot of time thinking about this fascinating exchange Colbert had with Dua Lipa, when she asked him about the role his faith plays in his comedy.
"God forgives not with a decree, but with a caress." #PopeFrancis
We adorned the cross with fresh flowers throughout the hymns in the service which was very beautiful and hopeful. Life is stronger than death.
#PopeFrancis was an extraordinary man, who was determined to keep at the heart of his ministry his calling first & foremost to be a Pastor.
He continually urged his colleagues to focus on the lived reality of those they were called to serve
Our world has lost a great Godly man today π
A picture of Pope Francis smiling surrounded by crowds.
βWe must regain the conviction that we need one another, that we have a shared responsibility for others and the world, and that being good and decent are worth itβ
May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
My friend once tried to perform a citizenβs arrest on him.
"With joyful devotion, Francis dwelt in the heavenly mansions, and in complete self-emptying, he remained for long periods hidden, as it were, in the wounds of the Savior. Here therefore sought out solitary place where he could cast his soul entirely upon God." #Celano #SaintFrancisOfAssisi
God is the stability of our times.

For some reason brought to mind Metripolitan Kallistos Ware telling the story of how he fell asleep in his own lecture - always time to fit in a nap π
Train him to curl round your neck. I have a friend who did cooking, gardening and the hoovering wearing her cat like a scarf.
Oh Chakotay β€οΈ I rewatched the whole of Voyager over lockdown, it was so good - Janeway is one of my top fictional heroes !
A black and white picture of two young boys with a white dove captured almost stationary in flight right in front of their faces.
An Italian shepherd in foreground of black and white picture eating out of a metal bowl looking at the camera. There are other figures in background. Gaze is drawn to a girl bathed in light in centre of picture.
Was enamoured by the Letizia Battaglia exhibition at the Photographers Gallery. She was known for bravely photographing the mafia violence of Palermo but also for capturing the beauty of the city and the people who lived (and died) there. These two images really stood out for me.
Demon Copperhead
This is a precious read.
Iβm re-reading The Jesus Prayer by Metropolitan Kallistos Ware and think Iβd like to focus more on this prayer practice in left.
