Functionally I think it’s immoral to even want to be a billionaire, certainly in the world we live in with all the inequality and poverty that exists.

I’m actually not against the idea of covetousness as a moral failure, but to me it’s not just wanting more money or a better life (which is fine). I think there’s something harmful about desiring more than one could ever need or use. Or having enough and never being satisfied.
What’s the plan for enforcing the sabbath or honoring one’s parents or not coveting your neighbor’s house?
Stealing, killing, bearing false witness? Just another day as an ICE officer, or so many other government agents.
What’s the obsession with the 10 commandments, anyways? Definitely not the basis of morality or law, only like one of the prohibited actions is categorically against the law, at least two more are fine if you’re in the government but not for private citizens.
THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS AN INCREDIBLY STUPID MALIGNANT NARCISSIST WITH RAPIDLY ADVANCING DEMENTIA.
WHICH EXPLAINS EVERYTHING.
Also, sorrysorrysorry, JD Vance said, “If you're going to opine on matters of theology, you've got to be careful, you've got to make sure it's anchored in the truth,” TO THE POPE?! THE CATHOLIC POPE?! THE VICAR?! OF CHRIST?! IF YOU ARE GOING TO OPINE ON MATTERS OF THEOLOGY?! Excuse me. As you were.
“Is Trump unfit to be President?” was a clear yes before November of 2016 and has been reaffirmed every single goddam stinking second since.
“the pope is weak on crime” has gotta be one of the funniest things any politician has ever said in history
Or not, but at least we would have had someone other than the president’s closest allies looking at his mental fitness, even if their recommendations don’t end up being followed.
Doesn’t necessarily make removal easier, but I think there’s value in having some kind of congressional commission with actual medical experts that could be empowered to investigate concerns about the president’s fitness for office. Would have been nice to have a process to remove Biden.
Orban, Bolsonaro, Trump, and all the rest of these goons want you to believe they are inevitable and, once in power, invincible. They are not.
i don’t even care if today ends quietly — you do not deserve to walk away from posting like this as the president of the United States of America
What if the United States had a Congress?
In 2016, a bunch of us were told that we were just being dramatic, we didn't need to be upset, there were checks and balances, we didn't need to worry and that things could not possibly get as bad as we imagined because no one would ever let that happen. Anyways,
it cant be said enough that all tech smart guys and billionaires thought this guy would be great and now the world economy is fucked we're like a week from gas rationing and their guy is threatening nukes.
A loose digital painting of magnolia blossoms on a branch. They are against a rectangle of sky blue that is itself outlined in a blotty, splattery darker blue outline. Some yellow scripty lettering in the top left corner of the blue reds ‘Maybe it will happen today’.
Too many trolley problems, not enough trolley solutions.
"Why don't Americans-" The ruling class of America has intentionally disempowered its citizens spread across 3,000+ miles of land and then funded the police force as an occupying army that happily murders anyone who opposes them and imprisons whoever is left as slave laborers. So phone calls it is
Normally yeah, kidnapping a country’s leader to bring him to justice somewhere else is bad. But not like, every single time. There’s some grey area.
it's really so beside the point by now, but i cannot believe people gave this psychotic motherfucker a second chance.
trump supporters are dumb and stupid people and you are better and smarter than every single of them
Right wingers: "People should come to the US the legal way!"
Immigrants: *come in the legal way*
ICE: *deports them anyway*
Right wingers: "They should have come in the legal way!"
Actually we should just give citizenship to every undocumented person in the United States who wants it. Walking over an imaginary line isn't some great moral atrocity. Making people live in the shadows as a permanent underclass absolutely IS.
We could argue about the definition of ultra wealthy, but it’s obvious that no one has ever earned or deserved a billion dollars, and this probably alarms applies to much lower numbers as well.
I do see this as a sharp divide between liberals and leftists. Many liberals see wealth as an indicator of some kind of good character, or at least view it as neutral, while leftists pretty much always recognize that there are no ethical ways to become ultra wealthy.
I imagine a local paper interviewing a candidate about economic issues such as the costs of housing, food, cars, gas. If they’re being honest, most of their answers would be “I don’t know much about that because it doesn’t affect me personally, and I don’t really give a fuck about fixing it”
Not only does being a millionaire or billionaire not make you better at politics or governance, it actively makes you worse. Almost nothing about the economy makes sense to these idiots, and all of the main issues will basically never affect them personally.
Someday a sane and rational society will see hoarding wealth as a vice or character flaw and will treat rich people as completely unqualified to be involved in making decisions that affect society as a whole.
It was the worst of times, it was the least normal and most cringe of times
