When I write fanfics and think about characters I write, I'm never that rigid because I like seeing and drawing inspiration from different interpretations and then molding it to the kind of story I wish to tell. That, I feel, serves me more than a rigid framework of how a character "has to be"
The thing is... I have seen it enough times that people will look at the same character and in trying to understand that character arrive at completely different conclusions. So even if they both tried to write something as close to canon as possible, it will still end up completely different.

Oh, I can really relate here. My mom used to push stuff onto me she didn't want anymore as "gifts" and I always hated it, too. It's great that you rejected her stuff and instead embrace the things you want and like! It's a really important step!
Like I loved many magical girl shows but none as much as my first one, Sailor Moon, that influenced my aesthetics when I was like 5. Yu-Gi-Oh was the show that introduced me to fandom. And though I did have a Naruto phase, I feel more fondly for Bleach even to this day.
Part of these are shows I feel fond nostalgia for because they influenced me in some ways. Part of these are obsessions I had at some point that impacted my life. And the last part are those that really hit my emotions when I watched them.

Which is so funny because during the Natlan patches Genshin only released one 5* male but made up with two 4* males so EVEN in Genshin's worst year they did better than wuwa's and zzz's regular years.
Wuwa and zzz are definitely the worst offenders here they literally release two male characters a year. I'm having fun with those games but man, it IS frustrating.
While Endfield looks cool I already play so many gachas, plus I refuse to be baited by yet another game that will start off with a few playable male characters and then release like one or two every year next to 17 waifus 😒
