He served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is not unusual that he went on to work as a contractor in Afghanistan. What is surprising is that he only did it for 6 months before leaving.

They both have some red flags.

I am not here to denigrate Janet Mill's. Her career has a lot of firsts for women.
That politics has been intertwined with her career for 20+ years is undeniable.

She was in the Maine house of reps from 2002-2009 before she became governor 7 years ago.

She clearly has had political ambitions her entire professional career.
