Maybe could catch on under new branding—who doesn't like the idea of having an actually convenient store? But I don't think US 7-11 could handle a branding shift like that. At best, people would be confused; at worst, they'd get accused of gentrification.

Apropos of a bird app discussion, I don't think Japanese-style convenience stores would work in the US under current branding. Americans don't walk into a 7-11 expecting clothing, household supplies, a selection of fresh and frozen foods... they want cheap snacks and sugary drinks.
