“High-end combat against a capable, integrated air defense system is never risk-free,” said retired Lt. Gen. David A. Deptula, dean of AFA’s Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies. “What distinguishes modern Western airpower is not invulnerability, but the ability to survive, penetrate, and sustain operations while keeping losses exceptionally low.” U.S. military officials have said it is operating with air superiority over large parts of Iran and that the U.S. military has hit over 12,300 targets. The aircraft losses do “not invalidate the larger reality that U.S. and allied forces have achieved a very high degree of air superiority over Iran,” Deptula said. “Air superiority does not mean zero risk.”

Four B-2s conducted strikes against Iran yesterday on a round trip mission from Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo, I’m told.
Jennifer Griffin of Fox News first reported the use of the B-2s.
A senior administration official said the U.S. believed the American and Israeli militaries needed to strike first to blunt Iran’s retaliation. The official said Iran’s refusal to discuss its ballistic missile program led the U.S. to attack.
The Israeli Defense Forces said they launched an “opening strike” against high-level officials that also killed the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran’s defense minister, and other senior officials. www.airandspaceforces.com/us-israel-at...
