Everytime you think "ah finally, a good use for AI", you should step back and realize that such a response is exactly the kind of wedge corpos are trying to drive between laborers

Everyone's expertise and craft is "finally a good use for AI" to those outside the field.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard fanart. Four page grayscale comic. Page 1. Panel 1: Aster, a Crow elf Rook with short dark hair, holds Lucanis's hand as they both emerge from an eluvian, gesturing out to the room with a grin as they look back at Lucanis, who is half emerged from the eluvian and looking around with slight confusion. Caption: "Nearly one year after the defeat of the Evanuris. Morning." Aster: "Here we are!" Lucanis: "Old elven ruins?" Lucanis: "Yeah, the Inquisitor told me about it." Title: "Anniversary Date by Erin Jade Raven." 2: Lucanis looks around with a small smile while Aster leans to look out a window in the background. Lucanis: "I admit, I didn't expect this for our date. But I suppose it IS like old times." Aster: "Uh-huh, yeah." 3: Lucanis turns to look at them with a raised eyebrow. Lucanis: "Rook...?" 4: Lucanis smiles. Aster leans on the window frame, obstructing the view with their body in a way where they're trying to act casual but clearly are not. Lucanis: "What are you up to?" Aster: "Nothing. Or, I mean... Maybe I'm trying to seduce you." Page 2. Panel 1: Lucanis smiles knowingly. Lucanis: "You know you never were very good at lying." 2: Aster smiles and holds a hand under their chin, trying to look innocent but glancing out the window with sweat effects. Aster: "Whaaat? That's not true." 3: Lucanis leans in, trying to look over Aster's shoulder, but Aster stands straight and with their arms out to block him with a nervous smile. Lucanis: "Oh? Then why do you keep looking--" 4: Aster covers his eyes with one hand and holds him back by the shoulder with the other, very nervously looking out the window with sweat effects while Lucanis shuts his eyes and smiles with amusement. Aster: "Okay, okay, just-- Just close your eyes for a minute." 5: Lucanis closes with eyes with a grin. Lucanis: "Haha. Alright"

Frog and Toad hide the cookies in a box. From "Cookies" In *Frog and Toad Together*

Frog put the cookies in a box. “There,” he said. “Now we will not eat any more cookies.”

“But we can open the box,” said Toad.

“That is true,” said Frog.

An issue I have with media that tries hard to market itself as “cozy” is that so many of them want to fulfill the role of comfort food but are also too afraid and morally averse to even attempt to reach the levels of conflict seen in shameless fluff like the Mamma Mia movies

Somewhere along the way, being wrong about facts was reclassified as "having an opinion," and knowing facts was stigmatized as "having bias." It's a big part of why we're in hell now.

hi speaking as a narrative lead on a GOTY and long time builder of VO pipelines, this has literally been a solved problem for ages with text to speech and other tools so we haven’t ever needed evil shit like genAI for this solved ass problem. This is basic shit.

"What ultimately broke me and my Blizzard career was I got called into the CFO's office and he sits me down and he says—he gives me a date which at the time was 2020 and was going to slip to 2021, but at the time it was 2020—and he said: 'Overwatch has to make [redacted] in 2020, and then every year after that it needs a recurring revenue of [redacted]' and then he says to me 'if it doesn't do [redacted] we're going to lay off 1,000 people, and that's going to be on you.' And that was the biggest fuck you moment I've had in my career, it felt surreal to be in that condition."

the targeting of any art that is "obscene" (terms of obscenity always to be decided at a whim) is fascistic yes but also how the only kinds of art that tends to be penalized is the individual/independent creators isn't lost on me. a patreon TOS would reject anything that can be streamed on netflix.

The amount of times that I have seen paid advertising that is essentially female bodies in underwear, sometimes a lot less than what I wear

And I'm thinking "how do they not get flagged by the auto sensors?" 🥹

But of course it's money

reminder when you're doing your taxes, the number patreon is putting on your 1099 is the gross and they DO NOT exclude all the money they took from you in fees. you need to deduct that yourself as business expenses. an easy ("easy") way to do that is to download your earnings by month

Everyone who tried to draw around me and started drawing LOVED it at the beginning because of their QUICK IMPROVEMENT. Then quit when they hit The Wall™️.

But it's when you hit The Wall™️ that you NEED to push through with practice!! And you gotta do it for yourself, because it's ALWAYS worth it! 😤

AI-created art isn't eligible for copyright protection, after the Supreme Court chose not to review a lower court ruling.

In 2022 the Copyright Office said images without “human authorship,” don't qualify for copyright protection — this was affirmed in 2023 by a district court.

This all began with a concerned mutual reaching out to me, stating that they saw a notification that pointed at me using the Meta AI app and asking if my stance on generative AI had changed.
That’s when I learnt that Meta has been quietly using random people’s accounts to promote their app. The catch is… these people never actually downloaded the app. Including myself.

I just wanted to make this post to warn people. If you see a notification like that - know that it’s a lie, I never downloaded any AI app and never will. I’m an artist who values hard work and human effort, and generative AI repulses me to an unimaginable degree.

If you follow me on Instagram and you receive a notification about me joining or downloading Meta AI well, IT'S A FUCKING LIE. Meta is blatantly lying to us in order to make us download that fucking sludge-generator. I would never touch GenAI with a 10 foot pole.

In other words, all someone who wishes you ill has to do is buy an item off your wishlist, and Amazon will hand over your address.

How many educators, librarians, DV or homeless shelter staffers, or other community volunteers will be negatively affected by this?
