I’ve had the same editor since 1967. Many times he has said to me over the years or asked me, Why would you use a semicolon instead of a colon? And many times over the years I have said to him things like: I will never speak to you again. Forever. Goodbye. That is it. Thank you very much. And I leave. Then I read the piece and I think of his suggestions. I send him a telegram that says, OK, so you’re right. So what? Don’t ever mention this to me again. If you do, I will never speak to you again

Harvard Asks Donors to Endow $10 Million Professorships for ‘Viewpoint Diversity’ Initiative | News | The Harvard Crimson Harvard is quietly asking donors for $10 million gifts to establish new endowed professorships in a sweeping bid to reshape its faculty under the banner of “viewpoint diversity,” according to two peop...

The irony of this initiative is that Harvard’s Department of Government was the academic hub of the first generation of neoconservatives and Harvey Mansfield alone has probably produced more conservative undergrad and grad students than all Marxist faculty at Harvard combined.

‘I cried, I cried. I had no one’: the brutal child kidnappings that shamed Belgian Congo Over 70 years ago, thousands of mixed-race boys and girls were torn from their mothers by order of the state. This week five survivors hope a court will censure Belgium for crimes against humanity

"What she found, she told the Observer, was “a systematic policy to identify, track and pursue mixed-race children, taking them from the arms of their mothers and forcing them under the guardianship of the state”."

Legal advisers help migrants pose as gay to get asylum, undercover BBC investigation finds The BBC exposes a shadow industry charging migrants thousands of pounds to help them cheat the asylum system.

Disgusting reporting by BBC using a tiny number of cases to suggest widespread abuse of a system which routinely denies LGBTQIA+ individuals asylum and forces them back into environments of persecution. This article massively distorts the reality of the situation. 1/

Karp doesn't say these things because he can predict the future. He says it, because critical thinking - something the humanities are designed to cultivate - threatens the power of the tech bro billionaire culture.

Worker who allegedly set fire to California warehouse compares self to Luigi Mangione Chamel Abdulkarim was charged with felony and state arson counts after allegedly destroying property worth nearly $600m

when workers start citing luigi mangione as their north star, the correct question is not "why are they so extreme" but "what did you do to them first." chamel abdulkarim did not invent desperation. the warehouse did.

At the Venice Biennale, Romanian-Israeli artist Belu-Simion Fainaru will present a work celebrating Israeli drip-irrigation technology, just as Israel weaponizes its irrigation system to control Palestinians by restricting their access to water.

Here, in these two articles on the evils of queer theory, one from a wannabe FDP chairman and the other from a vocal member of the gay literati, we see my argument bear out. /2

In the epilogue to my book, the Queer Art of History, I argued that the far right posed an existential threat to queer and trans life. But I also showed parts of the liberal centre are no small danger either. /1

God I hate this genre. These kids who protested Gaza got arrested, expelled, beaten up, doxxed, lives ruined by outside agitators and were utterly betrayed by the administrations that should have protected them at any cost. Shut the fuck up.
