It also needs a field house. The lack of third places for kids (and adults that doesn’t involve alcohol) in this city is pretty limited, esp later in the evening. Go to the NMS field house on a Friday PM and it’s hopping.

George St Middle School isn’t aging (well, everythg is aging). It’s aged. Done. Like needed replacement years ago. Probably when I went there in the late 90s. We need a new urban middle school on the south side asap.

An Energy War is Raging. The Last Thing Canada Needs is More Fossil Fuel Production. The Middle East war is the excuse du jour for new oil and gas exports. But with the energy shock driving importing countries to ditch fossil fuels, Canada must prepare for the industry's decline.

"investors in Canadian oil and gas will face serious financial risk—and provincial revenues from the industry could fall by as much as 82%—as the global energy transition unfolds through the 2030s"

One of the biggest issues with our healthcare here, besides the lack primary care, is the lack of evenings/weekends non-urgent walk-in care. If we want to reduce ER load, provide other options. Pediatric after hours, eldercare after hours, etc, normal walk in clinics. What went so wrong here?

... getting a bit tired of the state of the #education system here. What's the fix? A huge influx of $$$? Kids are bored in school, kids need extra support in school, our test scores are horrendous, teachers are burnt out. No one is winning with the current system.

“Smith’s address last night is worse than advocacy for separatism. It’s an agenda to destroy Canadian federalism from within. To rely on stoking fear and xenophobia, to attack society’s most vulnerable, to dismantle the grand bargains that make Canada the best country in the world.”

*Important*

At the Senate on Tuesday, the President summarized the Province's plan to cut University funding across the province by 10%. This is nuclear, amounting to ~50M divided among the four universities. (While Irving pulp and paper is to get +45M for tariff relief.)

But it is not yet a done deal. All university and union presidents are responding firmly.

Please write to your MLA asap. There is not much time.

Dear Hon. Susan Holt,

It has come to my attention that the budget for universities in the province may be cut by $50 million.

I am writing to plead with you to reconsider.

New Brunswick universities like the University of New Brunswick--recently ranked tops in Atlantic Canada and 14th in the country ahead of Western and Ottawa by TIME Magazine--serve a vital role educating the young people of this province.

Our constituency is our own children.

These proposed cuts would have a catastrophic impact on institutions that quite frankly require more public investment not less. This would be an incredibly short-sighted decision, with devastating long-term impacts.

I hope New Brunswick can count on you to reconsider and put its young people first, ahead of corporate interests.

Many thanks,

Nathan Kalman-Lamb

Catastrophic higher education news in New Brunswick: the Liberal government of my MLA @susanholtnb.bsky.social is potentially going to cut 10% of the budget for universities—$50M across 4 schools when much *more* funding is needed, not less.

The impact would be devastating.

Please share, NBers.

Ok. Why doesn't #NewBrunswick have a wellness tax credit like PEI? $1,000?!

Yikes in a city that is pushing density + multi-unit residential bldgs as much as #Fredericton is, not having #recycling in all apartments sorted before removing the community bins is a pretty big fail? People who want to recycle should have an option, it shouldn’t be up to a landlord’s compliance.
