the anime sfx-making tool!
It's called ANIMEVOX, in big letters up top.
Then there's the controls:

In vertical pairs:
Left:
Pitch Rise
Rise speed

Reverb
Room size

On the right:
Wobble Speed
Wobble Amount

Tone Brightness
Volume

Next is a row of keys:
Randomize - randomizes the sound parameters
UNDO/ REDO - go back to parameters you liked
Export Wav - self explanatory, it saves a copy of the latest sound to your hard drive.

Then the fun buttons, with cute art styles:

IMPACT, sparkle, beam, powerUP, PON, BOOM, slash, woosh

Each produces a preset sound, which then goes through the fx chain.

Hope you enjoy it!

I made a tool that makes retro anime sound effects. Meet AnimeVox!
I made it for a game, but it's free to use.

I'm using the forgotten (but popular in 80s japan) Schroeder reverb algo, and some wobble.

If you find it useful consider supporting me on itch :)

I've been visualizing one of these incremental upgrade trees for my brain as I learn Sektori. "UPGRADE: realize that I should always strike before applying my selector" 🤦

Surprised to see Jimmy in your top 5 and not Armor! Any particular album this year?

Drinking from the Bluesky Firehose | jakelazaroff.com I recently built a Bluesky bot. To build it, I had to dig into the Bluesky firehose. Here's what I learned.

i made @linknotifier.bsky.social, a bot that sends you a DM when someone posts a link to the domain you have set as your handle!

also wrote a blog post about how to build on the bluesky jetstream:

Not a gaming laptop, but I’m very happy with my 14” Macbook M3 Pro for medium-heavy Unity work. Otherwise, if you have a decent connection, parsec.app is good for remoting in to your home machine for game dev and free to use if you don’t need any fancy business features (I used to work there)

50 Tips and Best Practices for Unity (2016 Edition) This article describes many strategies for working with Unity to make your projects simpler to understand, harder to break, and quicker to ship.

nearly a decade later, this #unity #gamedev article still feels like one of the the most crucial things I ever read that made me a better unity programmer. its content is still absolutely relevant for creating a sustainable development environment

Thanks so much for this! We've been avoiding ScriptableObjects for how annoying they can get, but this seems like a very sensible way to use them.

Definitely Games Making games since 2024.

Hello friends! I'm Charlie, a longtime programmer and videogame/boardgame fanatic. I also love startups and previously lead engineering at a couple: VHX (now part of Vimeo) and Parsec (now part of Unity). This year I started an indie game studio with my close chum @caseypugh.bsky.social! def.games
