The more I think about the 70,000 ICE incarcerated without due process the more I think we are underreacting. People are literally trapped inside for profit prisons. We need to do something.

How a small New Hampshire town stopped an ICE warehouse jail

“The ICE warehouse jail in Merrimack is not opening. For the people who would have been detained there and their loved ones, this is a real win. It also proves something larger: detention expansion is not inevitable. Everyday people can stop these facilities.” afsc.org/news/how-sma...

A sepia toned photo of farm workers marching with lots of flags in the background and these words in the foreground:

These recent days have been indescribably painful for our union, our members and for the huge community who continues to support farm workers in their fight for justice. We have nothing but solidarity and support for all of the survivors who have courageously come forward to share their stories.

Without truth there can be no healing. Sí, se puede.

They always have trillions of dollars for illegal wars in the Mideast, but SCOFF in your face and clutch their pearls when you ask for universal healthcare. You are all being played.

A big part of the authoritarian playbook is war. War takes over the news. War blots out criticism. War divides a nation’s people, subjecting those against it to being called unpatriotic. War grants leaders all sorts of emergency powers. War consumes everything else.

We mustn’t let this war do so.

A photo of farm workers working in the fields with this text overlay: UFW Demands H2A Visa Cap Following Latest Forced Labor and Human Trafficking Incident in H2A Guestworker Program

This week we learned of yet another appalling incident of forced labor and human trafficking in the H2A guest worker program.

The H2A program is out of control. It's time for Congress to create an H2A visa cap. How many more abuses will it take before Congress acts? 1/

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Alberto Castañeda Mondragón says his memory was so jumbled after a beating by immigration officers that he initially could not remember he had a daughter and still struggles to recall treasured moments like the night he taught her to dance.

But the violence he endured last month in Minnesota while being detained is seared into his battered brain.

He remembers Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pulling him from a friend’s car on Jan. 8 outside a St. Paul shopping center and throwing him to the ground, handcuffing him, then punching him and striking his head with a steel baton. He remembers being dragged into an SUV and taken to a detention facility, where he said he was beaten again.

He also remembers the emergency room and the intense pain from eight skull fractures and five life-threatening brain hemorrhages.

ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”

What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

Renee Good's partner addresses Minneapolis immigration crackdown one month after killing Becca Good has seldom spoken out since Renee Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on Jan. 7.

“Renee was not the first person killed, and she was not the last,” Becca Good said. “You know my wife’s name and you know Alex’s name, but there are many others in this city being harmed that you don’t know — their families are hurting just like mine, even if they don’t look like mine.”
