For reference, here’s Lightmap’s raytraced light positioning patent: patents.google.com/patent/EP282...
The concept relies on casting a ray in the viewport and positioning elements based on the ray‘s bounce – simple vector maths. The rest is all UX and marketing. Not worth a patent imo.
Interesting. Wrote my own Add-On that does the same + allows for placing Blender lights in the same way. It’s super fast and efficient, but regarding Lightmap‘s patent, refrained from releasing it to the public. Whether the patent should have been issued, is a whole different story…
Hey after effects users… I was today years old when I found out that you hold down shift when parenting to zero out PSR to the parent. You’re welcome.
Fail, but fail elegantly.
In the south, they set up mobile gas-powered heating and warm water stations, when buildings are disconnected from the grid. Ain‘t no such thing in Berlin?
This sounds great, thx!
When did MS roll out JavaScript and TypeScript as a scripting language in Excel? 🤯
While working on projects, I would take notes on how I could demonstrate a feature in a short-form video, but I also never ended up creating any promotional video for my scripts, so there's that 😬
Been asking myself the same thing multiple times, and the only right answer that occurred to me was to illustrate the tool’s capabilities in real use cases. Lots of promotional videos show off a tool's features but lack a demonstration of its USPs.
