"The similarities that arise from the areas of 'parental rights' and criminalization/state surveillance demonstrate that the overlap between attacks on abortion and gender-affirming care go much further than the overarching concept of attacks on bodily autonomy." www.thetaskforce.org/resources/ge...

Where there was one set of footprints in the sand, that was where I billed you as out of network.
The one lesson I wish people took away from Stone Butch Blues is when the older Butch explains, we’re all going to know each other for a very long time so act accordingly.
It's not punishment to say that someone with power who has abused that power doesn't get to get more power. That's a consequence. Some of you are truly ridiculous.
President Donald Trump's administration has admitted to a major error in data used to justify a federal fraud probe into New York’s Medicaid program.
Dang, that’s a beautiful grid of excellent writing
This is the definitive point by Chris Hedges, re: Noam Chomsky and Epstein. Chomsky's entire value as a public intellectual is to know what people like Epstein are up to and why. Him feigning ignorance is absurd, and if it were true it would undermine the rest of his career.
Really hard to look at this and all the other examples of bravery and kindness from ordinary people in this moment not think also of the tremendous cowardice exhibited over the past year by some of the richest, most well-protected people in business, media and politics
I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...
Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.
You know me I don't share fundraisers unless I can tell you I trust them with my whole heart and my own wallet. This one gets protective gear to legal observers in Minneapolis / Saint Paul

If this happens, it will make literally everything better. All of it. Everything in the world.
@nigella.bsky.social in our living rooms every Tuesday throughout Autumn - genuinely life-changing stuff.
“Attuning to micro-moments requires us to regard each and every exchange as potentially contributing to a much larger inventory of un/dignified experiences.” A rich and practical read. How we frame dignity and how we “do” dignity requires curiosity and pause. Thank you @christateston.bsky.social
You aren't actually overreacting other people are sleepwalking.

For years, but especially for the past year, Democrats have been in thrall to the idea that they need to chase an imagined median voter, and adopt that voter’s positions. Mamdani’s victory shows another way: hold principles, and persuade people to share them.
NEW: Mississippi Democrats broke the Republican Party's supermajority in the state Senate tonight for the first time since 2011.
It came as Democrats flipped 2 Senate seats and 1 House seat.
“Mississippi just broke the supermajority—and the people have taken back their power,” the party says.

I love that Zohran did not praise Cuomo in his speech. You absolutely do not have to say nice things about bad people. We should normalize that in “polite” politics: Praising bad people is not actually “civility.”

I hope Democrats unveil their new “TRANSGENDER FOR EVERYONE” policy tomorrow. America is ready.

"There's no shortage of reasons these days to be angry or afraid. But look around you right now and you'll see tens of thousands of reasons to keep the faith and keep going. This is the America we know to be possible."

The biggest challenge is convincing people that things could be different and that their actions matter.
