Happy to be involved in this special issue and looking forward to exciting contributions from the geochronology community!
We are excited about the "Meeting & Status Seminar 2025" of the @dfg.de #SPP2299 Priority Programme "Tropical Climate Variability & Coral Reefs", which starts Monday at @unibremen.bsky.social. 55 researchers, from 15 German institutions and international guests, will discuss latest research results

Just came back from #KR10 in 🇿🇦 #capetown 🇿🇦 - what a great conference with amazing people and exciting research!! A huge thank you to @pickeringrobyn.bsky.social and her team for the organization! Hope to see you all for #KR11 in 🇲🇽 Mexico 🇲🇽 !!!
‼️New paper‼️ out in Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology:
„Climate-change induced human migration and socio-political changes in eastern India during the Meghalayan age“ www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Happy we could contribute by resolving the challenging chronology!!!
Happy to see that our recent work has been featured in this article out now in @eos.org !!
With the threats being levied against NOAA, I felt it was time to download all the sediment core and paleoceanography data being stored on NOAA's NCEI, just in case. I have uploaded the script to Github, just in case anyone wants to do the same! 🧪 ⚒️ 🦣 🌊

Thanks! Speleothems are not the ideal archive for this, but @palaeostefan.bsky.social has done some great work on this, e.g. ➡️ www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Key findings:
➡️ The Younger Dryas cooling started c. 150 years after the eruption
➡️ Climate change propagated rapidly from the North Atlantic to central Europe
➡️ Precise chronologies are so important for understanding past climate events and their relevance to current climate change!

This is a team effort with my great colleagues from
@uniheidelberg.bsky.social and @unimainz.bsky.social
We discovered the LSE as sulfur spike in the speleothem. Absolute Th/U dating links the speleothem record with ice cores. As a result, we've precisely dated the LSE to 13,008 ± 8 years ago!

Excited to share our latest research published in @science.org #ScienceAdvances! 🎉
We've discovered the Laacher See eruption 🌋 in a speleothem from Germany, which allows to synchronize European and Greenland Late Glacial climate change.

Dripstones Offer Insights into Climate Dynamics in Europe – Geoscientists study stalagmites in Romanian cave to reconstruct regional precipitation patterns

For #speleothem experts: We use trace elements (Mg/Ca) to derive semi-quantitative cool season precipitation amount and combine that with stable isotopes 💪. The result shows: dynamic - (not thermodynamic) processes determine precipitation variability.
Excited to share our new paper!!!! 🎉🎉🎉Our publication out today in CEE uses a 20ka long speleothem record from Romania to study the link between 🌧️ variability in CE Europe and atmospheric dynamics. Interested??? Read more here ➡️➡️➡️➡️ 🌬️https://rdcu.be/dZVtJ
On behalf of the SISAL wg: the final version of the SISALv3 database and paper are published! 🎉 Paper in ESSD gives lots of context and synthesis of what is included. We look forward to seeing the DB in use. essd.copernicus.org/articles/16/...
