When I lock out (?), I’ll go back to writing my dissertation. For now, I’m productively procrastinating 😁😃

Do you just go with the flow when working on your different #research projects? Sometimes, I just have #inspiration to focus on something I wasn’t planning to write until later… and I can’t stop until my obsession is over 🫣
#learninguniqueness #attention #hyperfocus
Thank you! 🙏🏼
I’m thankful to have met instructors and colleagues like you who inspire(d) and support(ed) me 😊
Looking back, I realise why I wasn’t able to do well as a student in unfamiliar academic environments. No matter how resilient I was, I just didn’t have enough navigational #capital from an intersectional perspective.
In some ways, I can advocate for students like me through my #scholarship! #edusky
Fingers crossed this #manuscript submission goes well.
Even the title is translingual 😇

Well said! Sharing my list of starter packs from my “niche science field” peeps.

Have a warm day.
Қарашаның үшінші аптасы да аяқталып жатыр ма. Тірлігің көп болғанда уақыт демде өтіп кетеді.
At the same time, looking back, I’ve accomplished so much 🙏🏼 Time spent well. #Fallisalmostover #Timeflies
Some days, you’re just knocked out after teaching 🫣
Had to take a nap after my #lecture.
How do you (quickly) switch to other tasks after high #energy activities like #teaching?
One thing I am wary of while working on my #dissertation is being (overly) extractionist toward my #participants; after all, I’m benefiting the most from my study. Luckily, beyond honoraria, I’ve been able to do smth meaningful at least for a few of them, even if it’s not acknowledged officially.
Yes, I love it here 😊
I like coming to Vancouver Public Library to work on my #writing projects.
Today I spent 3.5 hours shaping a #manuscript to which I returned recently. Feeling #happy about the progress.
As often is the case, having a #deadline has helped.
To many more meaningful projects and motivating deadlines 💪🏼
Yes, good to see more interaction on this platform!
I think 1-1.5 years to complete my manuscripts and apply for jobs 😊
Thanks!
Hope you’re enjoying being back home!
I haven’t posted here in a while 😅
Can’t believe I’m already in the fourth year of my #PhD program.
So much has happened recently~
Currently writing up some #essays, #abstracts and #manuscripts in addition to all the part time jobs.
Wish me luck 🍀
Working on the revision of my proposal… 😅
I’m personally interested in the intersection of CLA and translanguaging in teacher education. There’s a good special issue in the Journal of Language, Identity and Education: www.tandfonline.com/toc/hlie20/2...
If you need a good (updated) intro to CLA Pedagogy, I’d recommend Shapiro (2022): cultivating critical language awareness in the writing classroom.
Looking forward to talking to Rebecca and everyone else at TESL Ontario. Hope you can join us as well :)

One of those days when I feel extra happy to be an educator ☺️
Right field, right people, right place
Thank you! ☺️
Just submitted the first draft of my dissertation proposal with all the appendices. Also drafted my ethics application 😱
Hope it goes well and I receive positive feedback.
Looking forward to catching up there! Hopefully we can act on that plan/idea 😊
Students using AI as a way of “correcting” their writing is a direct consequence of instructors prioritizing prescriptivist conventions over supporting students in developing unique authorial voices. How about we use this as a chance to shift our priorities?
Just booked my flights for AAAL 2024. So excited to see the fruit of our labour in Houston. Thanks to team UBC and all the other members of AAAL for making the conference happen 🩵
Collaborations are meaningful, intellectually stimulating but also hard to coordinate. I hope to learn to better manage time and tasks as I become a more senior scholar.
AAAL proposal accepted with super positive comments and a great score. Registered. Now I need to book my flights 😭 Conferencing is cool but expensive
😊🙌🏼
Any scholars here?
I’m in critical applied linguistics & TESOL 🙋🏻♂️ #edusky
Just finished watching Bleach TYBW 2, and the final episode was soooo good.
Shutara is really that girl 😮💨🪡
