🎓 Many thanks to my wonderful collaborators Aroosa, Cinthia, Fred, @LCincio, and @MvsCerezo. This was my first paper as senior (last) author, so it's an exciting milestone in my scientific career!

⚛️ By careful analytic study of error bounds and numerical simulation of noisy quantum sensors, we find that the cost of zero-noise extrapolation outweighs its benefits, and that pre-characterizing a quantum sensor with inference-based techniques leads to improved performance.
🎯 When performing a measurement with a quantum sensor, every shot counts. Naively, one might hope to overcome the effects of noise using e.g. error mitigation.
🫰However, we must be careful that any shot not directly used for sensing actually gives a metrological improvement.
Our work on error mitigation and learning-based inference techniques in quantum sensing has now been published in Materials Today Quantum! 🥳
