Everyone Cheering The Social Media Addiction Verdicts Against Meta Should Understand What They’re Actually Cheering For First things first: Meta is a terrible company that has spent years making terrible decisions and being terrible at explaining the challenges of social media trust & safety, all while prioritiz…

against dictatorship against democracy long live anarchy

I keep increasingly emphasizing anarchism's hostility to democracy because folks really need to grapple with how democracy is tied to the evil of borders.

A majoritarian collective decision-making process requires inclusions & exclusions, and *regional* exclusion is popular pretty much everywhere.

We need more awareness of orgs that sound like they're a Serious Scientific Outfit while secretly being a collection of Christian fundies cranking out junk science and 'studies' with ass methodology to legitimise their ideological agenda.

That's about as pure epistemic vandalism as it gets.

in another case, annie gaslit a friend of mine into thinking annie raped her while my friend was drunk.

the stories i have listed are just the ones i know the most about. i highly recommend to anyone in the vicinity to be careful around or entirely avoid annie. (2/2)

coming back here because i feel obligated to post a warning about this:
the person carrying the "property rights are human rights" sign is @annie.bsky.social. annie has abused several of my friends and made a death threat about me as a method of frightening one such friend. (1/2)

update: may be another week or two before i delete*, i still need to get a few contacts over to other sites

*also i've decided to deactivate (and hand my reactivation passwords over to a trusted friend) on bluesky specifically instead of deleting, because i expect to come back here someday

A stag with a tattered US flag flowing from its antler kicks an agent while a klan member snaps their neck in front of it. Text reads "Kick them out. No ICE No KKK No fascist USA."

yeah, i agree
hoping to write some more about the rationalist community on the longforms, but i've realized it's a lot harder to make my point given the incentives and style of shortform

the most twitter way to leave twitter is to post a long thread about you leaving and pin it, only for twitter not to show it to anyone because you named the Forbidden Competitor Sites

thanks! was nice to have you along

thank you all for being here with me, and i hope to see you around the rest of the internet.

and, finally, i’m not a monster. i will be downloading my archives, and hope to have a blog post up with a decent chunk of my tweets by the end of June. that blog post will include all my predictions, even if they’re bad predictions, because i’m not a coward.

in the meantime, those of you who want to stay in touch should reach out via dm, or follow me on tumblr or substack if you’re there too. i’d be happy to keep chatting, though i am an introvert so you should not expect too much lol.

i do wish i could stay here, in some ways. i’ve met a lot of nice people in my time here, and the community that existed back in pre-elon twitter was actually quite enjoyable. if another golden age comes, i will be back. but i don’t expect it soon.

however, this change will only work if i get off the shortforms. it is too easy for me, when i’m on these sites, to go right back to my old habits and start screaming at people once more. thus, i plan to remain on the longforms going forward, where i can think and write longer.

(and to be clear, i do still have strong positions that i think many of you will disagree with. just, i’ve found my ethical footing again and am not being as reflexively oppositional as i was.)

3 months ago 12 0 1 0

over the last few months in particular, i’ve managed to find strong but considered positions, and feel less like i’m drowning looking for a framework than i used to. now that i have someplace to stand, i expect to cool off a fair amount, and become capable of being kinder again.

in particular, i regret my defense of Jay Jones. while i still stand against the overly cooperative strategies of many democrats, i have come to fully reject the emotion of bloodlust as any sort of defense, and thus i find what he said - especially given its extent - to be wrong.

3 months ago 14 0 1 0

and this caused me to take bad stances in order to deliberately anger rationalists (or anti-rationalists) into agreeing with me or something. for someone with “reflexive contrarianism” among my main criticisms of the rationalist community, i sure did a lot of it.
