My artist statement: ‘Outer Blue’ depicts my back and forth desire to fit into the mold of what it means to be a Black woman, yet feeling like a strange entity in my own body: stretched thin, fragmented, and billowing. The figure in the piece stands between a dotted horizon, looking directly at the viewer. They stand strong, but there’s a wavering element to their stance against the dark blue background that is hesitant. The iridescent sphere hovering over the elongated form serves as a balancing act that is my gender; one that has me teetering between female, male and nothing I can quite comprehend.

Delayed life/art update for Bluesky:

I was part of my first gallery show w/ an original piece for the first time in about a decade. The show ‘Black Queer GRITS (Girls Raised In The South) was so beautiful & I can’t thank everyone enough. ‘Outer Blue’ is the name of my piece and I’m so proud of it 💙

The new VERY hagriographic Michael Jackson biopic starring MJ's nephew is out at the end of the month. But back in 2004 an unauthorised and EQUALLY flattering biopic was made in Canada. Here is a clip and I promise you have NO idea where it's going. I haven't done a single edit here.
