This morning's worship at St. Mark's United Church addressed the idea that Christians must put others’ spiritual well-being first - valuing love and care over defending our own freedoms." The sermon was "How To Be A Christian In A World Full Of Idols." www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OuM...

As a Protestant I literally don't know whether to laugh or cry as I watch Trump, Vance and more and more MAGA types attacking the Pope because he spoke in favour of peace. I do admire the Pope for not backing down.
JD Vance says that the Pope should be careful speaking about theology. I suspect the Pope's response would be that JD Vance should be careful when speaking.
If I'm reading the room correctly, the current position of conservative Catholics is as follows: "When the Pope speaks on matters of faith he is infallible, unless he disagrees with me, in which case he's wrong."
This morning at St. Mark's United Church, we celebrated Holy Communion as a sacrament that brings us together, heals our divisions and looks past our mistakes so we can live as one family." The sermon was "The Fellowship of the Flawed." www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JM4...
I would like to point out that according to the official rules of Banana Ball, the Blue Jays won that game 3-1!
It's more like fascism than socialism. In theory at least, socialism is flat out government ownership and control of the economy. Fascism maintains private ownership, private wealth and profit, etc., provided that it serves the interests of the state.
Today's seat and a reminder of last season's excitement! Let's go Blue Jays!
Easter morning worship at St. Mark's United Church, exploring why the resurrection is still meaningful today. The sermon was "Two Thousand Years Later." www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Okc...
Some people wonder what it is that Vladimir Putin has on Donald Trump, but I'm starting to wonder what it is that Brendon Little has on John Schneider.
This morning's at St. Mark's United Church our focus was Palm Sunday, and the difference between sentimental affection and the kind of self-giving love Jesus showed as he arrived in Jerusalem for the last time. The sermon was "Loving With The Heart Of Christ." www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR6C...
This morning's worship at St. Mark's United Church. We reflected on the idea that once we see the world as Christ sees it we are inevitably moved to action. We read 2 Corinthians 5:6-9 and John 9:1-7 and my sermon was "Seeing With The Eyes Of Christ." www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl1z...
In his first term he was forced to keep a few around him who weren't total lackeys and who kept him kind of controlled - lots of bluster that led to little. Those controls aren't there now. He's ilke an 8 year old psychopath whose parents just let him terrorize the school and do nothing about it.
You keep referring to "the next theoretical Presidential Election [and] the next optional Inauguration Day." What makes you so sure about the Midterms? The way things are going in your country I'd call them "potential."
Were they coming as part of a 21st century Fenian-style raid? (I'm joking - but I actually don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility these days.)
Trump claims he spoke to a former president who praised the Iran war and called him "smart." Representatives from Clinton, Bush, Obama and Biden have all denied speaking to Trump. Maybe it was the ghost of Franklin Pierce? More likely, another of Trump's delusional conversations. Or a plain old lie.
This morning's worship at St. Mark's United Church. Truly hearing God means listening in order to act faithfully and with compassion for others and not merely to feel comforted ourselves. James 1:19-27 and Proverbs 1:1-7. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Dxg...
You cannot be Christian and MAGA at the same time. It's not possible. Read the Gospels. Don't just listen to what your pastor says - read them yourself. Then try to match the words and teachings of Jesus with the actions of MAGA. You can't. You simply can't.
This morning's worship at St. Mark's United Church reflected on the idea that the church's voice only matter when it's speaking Christ's word for the sake of the neighbour. The sermon was "Speaking With The Mouth Of Christ." www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2H5...
Serious question - is there anything worthwhile that Trump doesn't threaten?
This morning's worship at St. Mark's United Church focussed on the idea that discipleship and service must go together. The sermon, reflecting on Matthew 16:13-20 and James 2:14-17, was "Serving With The Hands Of Christ." www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKLV...
If this keeps up I wonder if Trump will have to return the much coveted FIFA Peace Prize?
What is the Board of Peace and its illustrious membership doing about the outbreak of war in Iran?
This morning's worship at St. Mark's United Church reflected on the idea that faith must move us out of the church building to engage the world and its problems and not just to attend church on Sunday. My sermon was "Walking As The Feet Of Christ" www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyY9...
Last night's Ash Wednesday worship at St. Mark's United Church. My sermon was "A Journey From Hurt To Healing." www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-U9...
I admire those US Olympic athletes who are speaking out about the policies of the Trump administration. They know what's waiting for them when they do it - insults, mockery, threats, online harassment. Who knows what else. And they're doing it anyway. Somehow it gives me hope.
Who cares about Bo Bichette? Buck Martinez has announced his retirement from the Blue Jays broadcast team. Broadcasting aside - any guy who makes two outs at the plate for a double play with a broken leg and a dislocated ankle deserves to be on the Wall of Excellence at Rogers Centre!
Today's worship at St. Mark's United Church was a reminder that words are powerful things that can have a big impact. The sermon, based on Psalm 141 and James 3:1-12, was "There's Power And Danger In Every Word We Speak." www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MIV...
Oh boy! The "Melania" movie opens today. I have no doubt that it will be named "Best Movie Ever" - by FIFA!
In this morning's service at St. Mark's United Church in Whitby we talked about the impact when we speak God's truth to the world. Our readings were John 8:31-38 and Galatians 5:1-6 and my sermon was "When Truth Provokes." www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSzd...
