Because I mentioned the Scorpion Mother, I'm sharing DEEP DOWN today, my cave horror short novel about a man and his dog heading into a local cave after the end of the world. It is deeply depressing, but I still love it. #HorrorWritersChat

Yeah, I've been really careful when selecting pictures and B-roll, but it's hard these days. Not to mention the fact that my collages probably look as bad as AI right now!
I'm going to a bunch of events & have two releases planned in quarter 4. If you want to keep up with my news, peep my newsletter!
If you sign up, you also get a free novelette - A Priest's Lament - in the Tales From The Night Garden world. β₯ www.conquerthyfear.com/newsletter-apl

Thanks for another great week of questions!
Pre-order my Splatterpunk western: THE BALLAD OF A MUSCOGEE TRAPPER. To uncover the truth of his wife's murder, he has to desecrate her grave. The problem is, she's buried on the sheriff's land... and the sheriff is the main suspect!

Another great week! Loved the questions!
I wonder if next week I can answer both with this account and my "brand" account (meant to be clean of anything too controversial. Like, politics are fine, but I get a little *too* heated on this account sometimes XD)

It really makes me wish I had Photoshop skills. I can mock up some okay stuff in Canva, but for a great monster pic, I'm still reliant on artists, which is excellent but costly.
Thanks for another great chat, Mary!
I'm between projects, but as many of us said marketing was our biggest issue, I wanted to use my promo slot this week to offer collaboration.
Feel free to DM me if you'd like to cross-promote or collaborate on marketing our books/projects.

I'm trying to make analog-style horror shorts set in my universe. It's time-consuming, and I'm clearly learning a new skill, but I really don't want to be on camera!
#HorrorWritersChat Q4:
This is going to sound trite, but outside of extreme life situations, I've never felt my creative well empty. Refilling it has never been a process; I just keep getting ideas. Too many in fact, which is my real problem.
I can't find the time/energy to get it all down.
What's the new D2D drama? I was just about to move to wide again, and they used to be my go-to.
I'm trying to build out short video content as well. The struggle is that I need to like it, and I don't like most vertical horror content! π€£
Same, it's a slog. I've had some success by cross promoting with other authors, but it's short-lived and has to be precise genre matches.
Hello again, #HorrorWritersChat!
I'm Rusty, pen name B. Rae Grosz. I write ghost stories and other haunting tales.
And one of my favorite horror villains is the mummy Kharis from the Universal Pictures franchise. He's powered by tea, just like me!
π«I hear ya.
That's why it's so fun to hear from other writers. I'm the opposite; the second draft is the toughest part for me.
#HorrorWritersChat Q3:
Editing is the easy first answer because it's the most time-consuming part. Refinement doesn't come naturally to me; I can draft a novel in a week, but editing it... just let me die. π
But on an emotional level, it's marketing. It stings when you can't find readers.
Very fun! π
A reminder that THE MONSTERS AMONG US is on sale for only 99Β’!
You have until the end of Friday to take advantage of the low price, and I suggest you do!

Ouph, that's going to be a tense read! π±
I love that kind of villain, the ones who aren't motivated by sadism; they need to get the job done. It's relatable, if extreme.
#HorrorWritersChat Q2:
I have multiple antagonists in my Birch Island books who have pacts with greater powers. Sometimes they don't want to do evil, but they are beholden to something who's machinations and commands must be obeyed. I like sad horror, and conflicted villans are the bedrock of that.
