yup, straight people use twink as a replacement for f*g or the derogatory 2000s-era usage of gay

I think it’s hard to write about an established OC because I have an existing idea of them that I need to justify with the story.
In serious writing, characters should probably be created to serve the story you’re telling, not the other way around.
Basically, I’m doing this the wrong way lol
Desperately trying to retain some semblance of assholeishness in my characterization of Maverick, but it’s hard to work against my bias toward making everyone likable and kind
well Im in the middle of writing a story that might actually be small enough in scope that I can finish it lol
She is canonically extremely stupid so I think it’s perfect
Genuinely a possibility lol
wait you’re so right LMAO
Thank you!! I'm extremely lucky that it's not urgent (yet), so I should have plenty of time to raise funds before scheduling the surgery.
I also am so indecisive about what I want from a story about Maverick. Some days I want something plot-focused, where any romance with him is more of a side thing, then other days I want a relaxed, slice-of-life dating sim where the focus is your relationship with him.
I love the idea of a small dating sim or VN, but it’s a lot more up-front work and it could completely flop, so it seems a lot riskier.
I have an oral surgery that I can’t afford that I really need to get done and I’ve been trying to come up with fundraising ideas.
I’m thinking I make either an art Patreon or a Maverick dating sim/VN to sell on itchio.
If it’s not posted by the business’s account or contains an affiliate link, I think it’s safe to assume it’s unpaid 🙁
I imagine they make a high volume of requests that most artists reject, but a few accept because it’s exciting to be scouted by a big name in the industry.
Yup, me too! I assumed that the affiliate links were just a bonus on top of whatever pay they received up front, but I now know that isn’t the case after receiving one of those “collab” offers.
I have nothing against the artists who take these deals or followers who want to support them through the affiliate links.
It’s just such an ick to see companies simultaneously devalue artists and their work while also clearly acknowledging that the art will help their business.
It’s just slimy to me. I’ll never support a business if I have the suspicion they’re pulling that sort of thing.
Like you’re telling me that your multimillion dollar business isn’t booming enough to pay the professional artists that spend hours or days creating your product illustrations?
Wildly popular sex toy companies asking for unpaid comics/illustrations featuring their product and offering only an affiliate link as “payment” is insane to me
I can definitely see the similarity to drawing how-tos! I guess it’s just easier for me to not fall victim to those because I’m a more experienced illustrator than writer lol
And thanks, I’ll keep that in mind when I’m feeling stuck ✍️
I appreciate the insight, it really reaffirms my belief that many of my roadblocks with improving are from taking writing "best practices" too literally over the years.
I'll try to to further imbue the narrator's experience into directions to see if that gives more life to my writing :p
To me, the art of writing feels so intangible compared to something like painting or illustration, but I assume that’s only due to my inexperience. I may also not be reading enough (which I’ve been trying to fix over the past year).
I have such a hard time wrapping my head around writing fiction on even a sentence level. I always fall back to too much “stage direction” because I can’t free myself of the misconception that written stories are essentially just movie scripts
I'm just getting my wires crossed. Like, I really enjoy tightly-written literature with a lot to say, but a porn OC just isn't conducive to that sort of thing.
I've gotta separate my desire to write a novel from my desire to write about Maverick jerking off
I've been wanting to write a VN about Maverick but I keep overthinking it cause I feel like it needs to be some literary masterpiece instead of just a silly little story
honkshoo
In seeking to improve, I feel like I lost sight of what I personally want to be making art of, so I’m going to try to rediscover that
honkshoo
portrait sprite of maverick for a vn/game (wip)
I agree, that’s why I chose construction in the first place! I just can’t shake the IT vibes now
I took down my illustrations a bit ago to put this account into hibernation while I focused on my sfw projects. :p That got cut short though, so I’ll repost my old works of him eventually!
Yup, that’s what it is for me as well
do u guys think construction or IT suits him better as a profession? When I first designed him I leaned toward construction, but he gives off major IT vibes to me now lol
