Want a Friday funny? Had on a yellow tank top, to be all Spring-like. Didn't know what pants to wear, so I was like, comfy overalls!... got dressed... and immediately burst out laughing and had to change tank top colours.

I LOVE Libro! I didn't know they were DRM-free until I read Enshittification by Cory Doctorow. So great! Does this mean one can let other people "borrow" your copies, like you would give/lend a friend a hardcopy book after you read it?

"The rise of extreme wealth is one of the clearest signs of this imbalance. In 1987, billionaires held wealth equal to 3% of global GDP. Today this tiny elite, just 0.0001% of the world population, owns the equivalent of *16%* of world GDP in wealth."

Opposing new homes in a housing crisis on the basis of neighborhood character or shadows etc. is like opposing food during a famine because you're annoyed by the sound of people chewing.

Culinary Kiddo has their final exam (for their entire diploma) tomorrow morning - basically, a Master Chef competition, with a specific ingredient list, but with no recipe, that had to make "specific things". He's doing a practice run now, and, I feel like this is the best studying. hahha Yum for us

Maybe let’s try it out. We need something to keep us safe other than gossip networks.

I’ve worked at multiple universities where complaints processes dead end and the only option for dealing with a bad advisor is to leave. It’s why I have no PhD.

This would allow people to at least avoid bad labs.

Random observations while sitting on the bus in traffic... why do so many people sit SO close to the steering wheel? I don't know if it's bc I have long arms, or that I learned to drive on a stick shift pickup ... but if I sat that close to the wheel I would feel like I couldn't move/shoulder check!

Guh. I am the one who handles our car services and appts. My phone and email are the main phone and email on our account. Yet, they always call or email my husband first. Why, in 2026, is car ownership still male-centric?!

In random, not-wild-world-news, I wasn't up for a run today as it was so cold, wet, and windy... but, 4 km in, my book I was listening to was so riveting, I went another 3.5 km. Listening to audiobooks is the best running partner!

This is terrifying and a very close call, we need a close examination of recommendations that could have been put in place but have not been actioned.

YES! Once the changes start at the approaches level, then it will be "easier" for everyone to be like, doiiii, why the heck do I drive to work every day?

If enough change their habits or are willing to do so with the right connections, why do staff and some councillors assume our "culture" prevents change and more ambitious action here?

Culture shift needed for sure. I have bussed to/from work for over 15 years. No need to drive, at all. Back when we didn't live on a good bus route, I would do Park and Ride, and bus to-from work there. It's really not that difficult, and saves SO much vehicle wear/tear and gas! And, no parking $$!

top-down and side-view of black, white, pink, and blue running sneakers.

because 1) they are already worn, and 2) they are older than 30 days. These are an 8, but would work better for a 7-wearer. Only wore on 3 runs. I bought them for $200 plus tax, but they are on sale for $189 plus tax. www.asics.com/ca/en-ca/mag... I will honour the sale price, no tax! 2/2

Need new pavement slappers?? I ordered these right after Christmas, as I always want a pair of sneakers ready-to-go. ALWAYS buy Asics, so decided to try out the Magic Speed. THEY ARE WAY TOO SMALL! My toes are still bruised, as are the tops of my feet. Asics won't do any exchange/return 1/2

You Don't Need A Full-Size Pickup Truck, You Need a Cowboy Costume The full-size pickup truck has become America's best-selling vehicle by a country mile. But most Silverado, Ram, and F-Series buyers would be better served with a cheaper means of role-playing.

"The most popular vehicles in America may be the greatest examples of overcompensation ever invented." www.thedrive.com/news/26907/y... ... older article but still valid... I saw a lifted, wide-tired truck yesterday with a personalized plate that said "The GOAT" 🤡😒🥱

Halifax updating plan for safer transportation system that reduces reliance on cars | CBC News After nearly 10 years, Halifax’s plan to create a safer, healthier transportation network where fewer people rely on cars is getting an update.

"Halifax should not be widening roads or co-funding highway upgrades with the province, but rather focus on reducing car trips and allocating more road space for transit and safe pedestrian and cycling routes." www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

They didn't need to pretend to be pan-handlers... just being a pedestrian is enough to see dozens of violations at busy intersections or slow traffic... walking the intersection square, or just up and down the sidewalk in traffic. This could get loads of tinted window violations, too.
