A fast-paced romantasy rooted in Korean mythology...the fantasy elements shine... realistic themes of grief, anxiety, and micro-aggressions...dealt with in a powerful way." - school library journal God's & comics release 4/21/2026

A fast-paced romantasy rooted in Korean mythology. From serving as junior class vice president to being involved in endless extracurriculars, Grace Bak, 17, feels like she must do it all to get into Boston University’s prestigious pre-medical program. Her only reprieve is working on her viralwebcomic Sun God, a story about two Korean gods, Haemosu and Yuhwa, who are cursed to live as high school students. For Grace, the comic began as a way to honor her late grandmother’s memory and their Korean culture. But when the myths come to life, Grace is tasked with helping Haemosu, the sun god, return to his realm and defeat Habaek, the water god, who is terrorizing the city. The secondary characters, including the goddess Yuhwa and Grace’s best friend Zoe, feel fleshed out and add to the overall worldbuilding. Though the fantasy elements shine, the novel deals with realistic themes of grief, anxiety, and microaggressions in a powerful way. The ending wraps up nicely, both in terms of plot resolutions and romance. VERDICT An action-packed, Korean-mythology inspired fantasy that balances elements of high school woes; this will be popular where Cho’s books are already a hit." -- School Library Journal

I want our nation to become the most beautiful nation in the world.. I do not want our nation to become the richest and powerful nation in the world. Because I have felt the pain of being invaded by another nation. I do not want my nation to invade others. It is sufficient that our wealth is such that it makes our lives abundant and our military strength such that it is able to repel others' invasion. The only thing that I desire in infinite quantity is the power of a highly-developed culture. This is because the power of culture both makes ourselves happy and gives happiness to others.

What is lacking in humanity of today is neither military force nor economic power. Although the power of natural sciences is infinitely to be desired. the level of scientific progress achieved so far today is already sufficient to enable the entire human race to live comfortably. The root reason for humanity's unhappiness today is that people lack humanity, justice, compassion and love. If the mind of humanity is developed in this positive direction, mankind's present material capacity will be enough to enable all two billion of the world's population to live in comfort. The only thing that can improve the mind of humankind is culture and civilization.

I do not desire that our nation become a nation that imitates others. Rather, I desire that it become a nation that becomes the origin, the goal, and the model of this highly-developed and novel culture. I desire that a true world peace is fulfilled in, and because of, our nation. I believe that this is the very humanitarian ideal of Dan-gun,108 our national founding father.

BTS's Aliens lyrics: "Kim Gu (seonsaengnim) tell me how you feel"

Kim Gu, an independence activist, said "The only thing that I desire in infinite quantity is the power of a highly-developed culture...power of culture both makes ourselves happy and gives happiness to others."

Junior library guild gold standard medallion. Book Cover of young adult novel, Gods & Comics by Kat Cho. Featuring a girl running towards a prince emerging from a comic Out 4.21.2026

Seventeen-year-old junior class vice president Grace Bak has her entire future all mapped out. With plans to become a doctor like both her parents, Grace has her sights set on Boston University's intensive science summer program--which will put her on the fast track to medical school.
When she's not at school or studying, Grace writes and illustrates her webcomic, Sun God, inspired by the Korean myth of Haemosu about two teenage gods trapped in human form who are cursed to live in the modern world, and perhaps worst of all, to attend public high school. She started the comic as a way to honor her grandmother who used to tell her all the old myths before she died. Grace never expected the comic to go viral, but it has, and she's still spinning from the excitement of having thousands of readers. But somehow the power of all those readers has conjured the real Haemosu and now it's up to Grace to get him back to his own realm.

As Grace and Hae try to figure out a way for Hae to return home, the two become close. Hae challenges everything Grace has ever believed about herself even making her braver in the face of her near-crippling anxiety. Hae learns he is fallible, after all and what it means to sacrifice for those you love.

But Hae isn't the only god to find themselves suddenly trapped in the mortal realm and now a battle is on the horizon. Grace and Hae fight side by side, but in the end, will their burgeoning love keep them together or tear them apart?

No one said your life was easy.
They said racism wasn’t one of the things making it harder.
You can have pain and still have advantage.
Both can be true at the same time.

What's SO meaningful in #BTS picking #Arirang is that it's a song of sorrow but post-war it became a song about reunion. And this is literally BTS coming back together after 3 yrs & 9 months!
LOVE how BTS uses deeply rooted Korean cultural symbols as metaphors for their own personal journey! 😭💜💜💜
