Until this year I don’t think I’ve ever seen an em dash — in any client copy, yet suddenly they’re all over the place, looking ugly and out of place. What’s that all about? I’ve been quietly replacing them with less offensive looking punctuation 😉
Tried generative AI in Adobe Illustrator using a detailed description to work to, asking it to use an element already on the page to build a vector graphic. Results were a complete fail. Is AI really taking our jobs …. Yet? It couldn’t even fill the space I asked to fill. It was like clip art…
Quite agree. Having tried quite a number of no / low alc wines I’ve concluded they don’t work if you’re after a ‘wine’ experience. The alcohol is a key factor in carrying the delicate complex flavour and aroma compounds to the palate. Beer is more forgiving and there are many great no alc beers.
A quiet design week, some exhibition display artwork involving interesting photo compositing edits and a new customer form for clients, and exploring interesting print binding techniques like Singer sewing, while trying to keep me and the cocker spaniel cool!
Glad you made the planting day in 2017, sadly I couldn’t attend but I do have my honorary trowel 😊 It is a lovely drop 🍾 and I like the higher % Pinot in the blend of Edition I, so will be interesting to see what future Editions are like when they up the Chardonnay %
As someone who’s worked with some dubiously technical wine notes for consumer menus etc I fear the issue is brand manager time and being too time poor and close to the trade. When a business carries 1000+ SKUs, writing simple consumer friendly wine notes doesn’t happen, as much as I agree with you!

Having fun getting the colour of rose right for a line art drawing visual for a rose champagne client 🍾 . The colour I sampled apparently looks a bit orange. So I’ve gone back to 5 different neutrally lit reference photos and sampled the rose colour. All shades of orange! The eyes play tricks 😉
