Mets have the best record in baseball since this morning

The word excruciating comes to mind, but the New York Mets won a baseball game tonight
Lindor left the game with left calf tightness. Juan Soto, you might remember, just returned from the injured list with right calf tightness.
Brett Baty is heading to third, which I think means Bo Bichette is heading to short...which means Francisco Lindor is coming out of the game after he appeared to slow between second and third scoring last inning. This team cannot, under any circumstances, catch a break.
Whatever is happening with the Mets — whether roster miscalculations, temporary struggles, or cosmic intervention — the heart of their roster is what it is. The only way to save 2026 is to fix the parts they have. sny.tv/articles/met...
Francisco Lindor, when asked how the Mets change the fact that no team has ever had a 12-game losing streak and still made the postseason:
“By winning.”
Remaining fans at Citi, who just watched Devin Williams walk in a run in the top of the ninth, are roaring with every strike Austin Warren. Started an MVP chant when he struck someone out.
Francisco Lindor hits a three-run homer, thereby quadrupling his RBI total in one desperately, DESPERATELY, needed swing.
Nolan McLean once through Twins order: Nine up, nine down, 7 K's.
Mendoza also confirmed that Soto, who ran the bases at what looked like full speed just now, will go through a full day of baseball activity and if all goes well, will be in there tomorrow.
Christian Scott will start for the Mets on Thursday, Carlos Mendoza said. Peterson will pitch out of the bullpen next time through, Senga will start Saturday.
Can confirm that current expectation is that Soto will return to Mets tomorrow, according to a person familiar with team’s thinking. @JonHeyman and @AnthonyDiComo mentioned this already.
I never thought Mets fans were exaggerating or anything, but after a mere 21 games of watching on a daily basis — most recently something about seeing Conforto tie it and Kimbrel lose it and PCA score the winner — I’m here to affirm that yours really is a uniquely dramatic agony
I know it feels like a drop in a bucket at this point, but I do think Bichette has looked way more in rhythm at third the last few days.
Mets finally IL Polanco, retroactive to 4/15, with a right wrist contusion. Call up Hayden Senger, who might not be the obvious choice position-wise, but has a 1.030 OPS in 12 games for Syracuse this year.
For those of you who don’t live in this Venn diagram with me: West and Amanda are the main characters in this year’s Scandoval, which is basically 2023’s Scarlett Letter, which is a book.
They did! Casually and with no acknowledgement!
Wait: did the YES Network broadcast just show West and Amanda coming back from break….?
Full disclosure: I am one of the people who was googling Parker Messick when they post the graph showing the spike in searches for his name later
For anyone worried that ABS might limit Aaron Boone's opportunities to get ejected, he found one just now, upset about a balk called on Yarborough before the Adell grand slam. Went back out to talk about it between innings and was sent home early.
Free therapy and/or rant opportunity alert:
Gearing up to tape another episode of Mets Mailbag later today, so if you’ve got questions, drop them here…
Jose Caballero provides a two-run double that brings the Yanks back in the bottom of the ninth and ends a stretch of six losses in seven games. Yanks had runners moving all night trying to get something going. Paid off on close play at plate there.
Mike Trout just hit a home run very similar to the one Aaron Judge hit earlier to give the Angels a lead in a game they trailed 3-0. That's four homers in this series for Trout, three for Judge -- and they play again tomorrow!
Such a tough break (tear) for Jared Young, who had established himself as a reliable lefty bat for a team with at-bats to give. Second such guy they’ve lost, since Tauchman appeared to have played his way into a spot before the knee went, too.
Sometimes Ryan Weathers allows back-to-back-to-back home runs, sometimes he gets seven of his last eight outs via strikeout.
You guys heard of this Mike Trout guy? He just homered at Yankee Stadium for the third time in the last 10 innings.
Not since every time D.C. Washington took the mic have I been so moved to tweet about a rendition of our national anthem, but the Norwalk Conservatory of the Arts just delivered an epic one at Yankee Stadium. Whoever did the solo was incredible. That was electric.
Luis García DFA’ed by Mets after signing one-year, $1.75M deal in the offseason. Kimbrel yesterday, Joey Garber up today: The inevitable bullpen churn has begun.
I think we can politely describe this as a character-building weekend for the New York Mets.
The Mets signed Jorge Polanco to play first base. How much he will actually end up there, and who serves the Mets best when he isn’t, remain open questions as he battles Achilles discomfort. sny.tv/articles/met...
