Thank you to my friends at Tacugama Sanctuary in Sierra Leone for spotting this orphaned baby chimp on Facebook and rushing out to rescue her.
She’s now in safe hands at the Tacugama Sanctuary where she will be raised by hand alongside other chimps.
They’ve named her Linda.

She was 17 and a high school junior in Florida. She was working at McDonald's. And she was living in and out of a homeless shelter. Hoping to save up to buy braces to fix her teeth, she falsely advertised herself in 2017 as 18 years old on a website that matches men looking for "companionship" with young women looking to make money. What followed would set off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of one of the men she would encounter, Representative Matt Gaetz, the Florida Republican. Mr. Gaetz was investigated by the Justice Department for child sex trafficking but never charged. Following the election last year, he was President Trump's first choice to serve as attorney general. He subsequently resigned from Congress, and then withdrew from consideration as attorney general under a storm of scrutiny.
Horrific account of the now young woman who was exploited by former Congressman Matt Gaetz when she was just 17-years-old.

You can see how differently the media covers Republicans perfectly in just this post alone
No panicked follow up on his health, no pushback on the batshit 3rd term non-sense.
Why does everyone keep calling it “The Epstein Ballroom?” Please stop repeating “The Epstein Ballroom” because it is not called “The Epstein Ballroom!” Don’t tell the news that it’s called “The Epstein Ballroom” and please don’t repost this!!!!!
This is the asymmetry in our politics and media. If this was the other way around, Biden had pardoned someone then charged with trying to kill Trump, it would be the biggest story in America and every Republican commentator, congressman, news outlet, would be screaming about it in unison.
The president is establishing the principle that he can order the murder of anyone he deems a threat.
And Congress is letting it happen.
Only the military remains outside Trump’s grip. Despite the firing of several top officers—and his threat to fire more—the U.S. armed forces are still led by generals and admirals whose oath is to the Constitution, not the president. But for how long?

My choice for the Nobel Peace Prize this year:
Chef José Andrés and the World Central Kitchen.
Earlier this year, Dr. Jane Goodall sat down for an interview for Brad Falchuk’s new Netflix series, Famous Last Words.
The premise of the series is to interview people on the condition that the interview not air until the subject has passed away.

1. Dr. Jane Goodall 1934 - 2025
In 1962, a very young woman named Jane Goodall stepped into the African forest.
What she would discover shattered our understanding of the place of human beings in the world.
She revealed that chimpanzees use tools, form bonds, and experience emotions.

While we're all distracted by the domestic sideshow, Trump is sending the military out to kill people he says are "terrorists", in violation of US and international law. No wonder people at the Pentagon are checking in with their lawyers.

AOC responds to the Tom Homan story.
Swalwell: There’s going to be a Democratic majority in just over a year. To the FCC chairperson and anyone in involved in these dirty deals: get a lawyer and save your records because you’re going to be in this room answering questions
Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, also needs Trump’s Justice Department for approval on another deal.
CNN’s @jaketapper.bsky.social with the details.
This is another major scandal that in any normal country would result in the immediate impeachment and removal of the president.
We are now straight into full-blown McCarthyism, with black lists and everything.
Some personal news:
I've been fired from the Washington Post in the aftermath of the Charlie Kirk shooting.

The fact that right-wingers commit the vast bulk of domestic terrorism in the US is well-established by numerous expert investigations & reports.
But the right *accuses* the left more often, makes more *noise* about it, so they've bullied reporters into framing this as a "both sides" problem.
Whether by accident or malice - and likely intentionally - the Russians are risking a wider war in Europe. The only path to reducing such a threat is for the world to force Moscow to call off its campaign of butchery in Ukraine.
Unfortunately, America is AWOL:

Will ICE send guys to Boston looking for red hair and listening for brogues? Or stake out delis in Chicago to see who buys a kielbasa?
No. This is about profiling people by skin color and language.

Several anti-ICE protestors on the Ohio-Kentucky border.
This is how the police dealt with them.
Literally beat the hell out of them.
This is Trump's police state America, coming to a protest near you.
It is impossible to overstate the inanity of the vapid and stupid stunt of renaming the Defense Department, and Congress should step in and put a stop to it immediately.

On September 1, 2025, we lost a true legend. Graham Greene, Oneida from Six Nations Reserve, walked on at the age of 73. Over the span of more than 175 acting credits, he gave us characters that were unforgettable, complex, and real.

Graham Greene also pushed against typecasting and believed that Native actors could play any role; that we don't have to be segregated, or limited, to the "Indigenous section." This interview with Readers Digest:

Trump is a weenie dictator who can't commit: "Authoritarians usually say 'I'm in charge, I speak for the nation. I'm the mighty and powerful Oz.' You know, the wizard doesn't come out and say, 'Some people say that I am a powerful wizard.'"
