We now have a greater understanding of how exercise slows cancer Tumour growth is reduced by exercise due to a shift in the body’s metabolism that means muscle cells outcompete cancer cells in the race to get sugar to grow

It is well known that #exercise is linked to better #cancer survival, but the mechanisms behind this are poorly understood.

It now seems tumour growth is reduced by exercise due to muscle cells outcompeting cancer cells for sugar. @newscientist.com #health 🧪

The Nobel Prizes, 5 of 6 having so far gone to US based scientists, are a reminder of why we must stand up for science against this horrid administration. Here are some great Scientist Activists to follow.

“When the Executive publicly announces its intent to break the law, and then executes on that promise, it is the Judiciary’s duty to check that lawlessness, not expedite it.”

You know what’s brave? Seeing ICE agents and hearing about threats of National Guard and peacefully protesting anyway

Why collective micro-activism is a powerful force for change Research shows that individual acts of kindness and connection can have a real impact on global change when these acts are collective.

To the world:
We are fighting back. Our movement has been silenced by the media here—but we are not backing down. This is what our streets looked like across multiple cities. Tomorrow, there will be more of us! Raise a glass to freedom.

Your American allies.

These are scientists, physicians, and science educators using their voices in their times when truth and reason are under assault. I urge you to follow all.

I just did a major update. I will continue to do so.

Me with my late wife at sunset above a beach in California

My late wife battled ovarian and breast cancer successfully, only to die in an accident.

If the Affordable Care Act (ACA) had not been in place, we would have faced lifetime payment limits and possible denial of care for her breast cancer for which one drug alone was $100K/year
for treatment.

Important piece. We need to know there are people to enforce court orders. The US Marshals are supposed to enforce Court actions, but they are under the administrative jurisdiction of the Department of Justice, which Trump sees as his own personal legal services agency.

No— not yet. If T admin ignores court rulings, US Marshals may refuse to enforce contempt rulings, because they operate under the DOJ, which is part of the executive branch and ultimately answers to T.

If the Marshals Go Rogue, Courts Have Other Ways to Enforce their Orders Opinion | Even a rogue marshal’s service is not an insurmountable obstacle to courts enforcing the rule of law.

Hopeful perspective— if current admin ignores court rulings & US “Marshals go rogue,” refusing to arrest, the courts can deputize others (like probation officers, court security officers) to enforce civil contempt orders.

A quote today from the great Julia Davis. If Europe hasn’t figured out that Trump is bringing our 80-year collective security friendship, which has served us all well, to an abrupt and catastrophic end, you know it today. You are on your own. Act accordingly.

It has come to our attention that some of the parasites who "work" for the federal government were actually in charge of saving us from the bird flu. Our bad. We're trying to recruit them back to the office now. Let us know if you know where they are.

🧵Questions will swirl for years to come. Was 2024 election correctly decided? Were votes electronically manipulated given the voting software was in the wild?

A democracy should not have lingering questions about who won.
