Do watch it when you can. A treat for hard SF fans. Or read the novels. Or both.

We were re-watching some episodes of Beauty and the Beast with Linda Hamilton last night.
Was surprised to see it was written by George R R Martin.
One episode has Miyam Biyalik as a gangster moll. From 1988.

North Sea gas was heavily promoted and seen as a good thing.
Decimalisation was heavily promoted but the public often saw it as increasing prices.

Presumably this is the same process as was used in many previous appointments. Cameron as FS perhaps? Historically maybe considered a formality most of the time. It only becomes contentious when the subject turns out to be not so suitable for the role but is still highly desired by Govt.

Darren Jones was quite right on the point on Today.
A process that not only allows vetting to be ignored but also doesn't mandate that fact to be disclosed is seriously faulty.
Sir Humphrey would be proud.

Thank you for your report and views on Salute 2026. It's warming to hear the hobby is thriving. Also good that you managed the trip.

No problem, I'm just a nerd. You call it a tank you want.
My favourite 'tank" is the Churchill AVRE. It's an engineering vehicle and was crewed by Royal Engineers, apart from the driver.

Nice paint job anyway.

So has a bren carrier.
The M10/17pdr is a tank destroyer.
In the British army it was crewed by Royal Artillery troops, just like anti-tank guns.

I like Lower Decks.
I like Starfleet Academy.
I like Strange New Worlds.
I would love more seasons of Enterprise.

I'd like to see a series set between First Contact and Enterprise. Civilian starships plying their trade between nearby star systems at low warp, seeing other races, phenomena...
