Something maybe worth noting is that all the frog costumes and signs and good-natured memeing came about because a wide spectrum of Americans saw someone in direct, brave confrontation with ICE—getting pepperballed and standing their ground—and thought “that’s awesome. That person is a hero”

It took somewhere around 20 to 30 minutes for the whole line to march out of the gates of the capital

No Kings-Austin,TX

Find a No Kings protest Saturday and go!

Don't worry that you've never been to a protest before. Don't worry about being dressed wrong or looking out of place. Don't worry that you don't agree about everything -- or even about much -- with lots of people at the protest.

Thanks.
FTR, the very first time I had to call NCIS (I was working for the Navy) and then the FBI because of threats from Trumpers was almost ten years ago. I also had to fight being fired; I told my family, including my young daughter, that I might be unemployed soon.

Who Goes Nazi?, by Dorothy Thompson

Every few months now I re-read this "Who Goes Nazi?" piece from 1941 and am blown away by how it captures the people we are dealing with 80 years later.

The lex talionis was trying to stop inequitable retaliation—you steal my sheep, I kill your brother, and so forth—to make any punishment or retaliation or compensation meaningfully equal to the harm caused.

We are talking online in a way that is not even that just. We are talking into a trap.

Screenshot of article excerpt: The Education Department also was concerned about other words in the application, said Adrian Klenz, who works with deafblind adults in the state. He said he has talked with state officials about the discontinuation of the grant.

“I was told that apparently the administration is going through past grants and two words were flagged: One was transition and one was privilege,” Klenz said. “Transition — transitioning from childhood to adulthood. Privilege came up because a parent wrote a glowing review of staff that said what a privilege it was to work with them.” ProPublica obtained a copy of the grant application and confirmed that those words were included.

The Dept. of Education has pulled funding for programs in 8 states that support students with both hearing and vision loss.

A staffer at one program says he was told the Trump admin. took issue with 2 words on the grant application: “transition" and “privilege": www.propublica.org/article/trum...

This is it, it’s time to wait and trust.

We watch for the awakening now, and see what work there is to do when it comes.

I do think keeping some channel of real information flowing in front of the maga people you love is important. But it’s not up to us who will have eyes/ears to hear.

This Is What—and Who—We’re Losing in RFK’s Purge The story of one scientist, a career in public health, and the crisis at the CDC.

"Every one of these people is taking with them skills and knowledge that will be difficult to replace. But there may be no single individual whose departure better captures what is being lost and destroyed than Demetre Daskalakis."

Pastor Doug Pagitt realized Vote Common Good would need a robust mass-alert system because of ICE’s new, aggressive tactics of showing up unexpectedly at places that were previously off-limits.

Right? I mean, it’s always been fun.

Not appointment viewing for me, but I’ve let it auto play and chuckled at those two knuckleheads many times.

Kylie’s podcast is hilarious too.

That’s a family of very fun people.
