Still thinking about this from yesterday: “We just assumed the ex-MI6 spook would work out a full policy platform and strategy for deployment without consulting anyone”

Don't be shy to take on a little two-week side project. These five months will be the most precious three years of your academic journey.
nostalgia is remembering when you didn’t have to pay bills and attributing that feeling to mario
Comic. I’m at my desk, leaning over to the doorway, saying “Hey! Foghorn! Foghorn Leghorn! Get in here!” Foghorn Leghorn is walking past the doorway, “Boy, I tell ya, I tell ya, not so loud, boy. What, I say, I say, what d’ya want?” Next panel, I’m gesturing to my computer. “How do I find that really good manga you recommended? It’s an anime now? I keep getting Halloween costumes.” Foghorn leans over my chair, “well, boy, I say, I say, you ain’t typin the entire title.” Last panel, I turn around- “you said ‘witch hat.’ Foghorn gets in my face- “open your ears, boy!! ‘Witch Hat Atelier, I tell ya! I tell ya ‘Atelier,’ I tell ya’”

Thanks to @samuelhayimbrody.bsky.social for reposting this. Took a look at the Palantir founder's book and, what do you know, first search term I tried turned up a chapter complaining about how kids aren't taught the right things about ancient Greece and Rome anymore
congrats to the woman and

I disagree with most of the definitions in the Merriam-Webster dictionary, but it's still useful for the spelling

"MY TRIUMPH IS INEVITABLE / but i'm just a smol bean" really puts the dick in dichotomy.
This “-maxxing” and “-mogging” stuff comes from an ugly place and has never been particularly funny. But what about if *I* adopt it, but ironically,
swirlies. Per Slash Film, Einbinder shared a pointed message directed at Al creators during a recent Hacks season-five press conference. "You are a loser," she said. "You will never be cool. And you probably had a rolly backpack in high school. I wanna put your head in the toilet and flush." Einbinder, who concluded her acceptance speech at last year's Emmys by saying, "Go Birds, fuck ICE, and free Palestine," didn't sugarcoat her stance when she described people who generate Al content. She noted that she doesn't consider them to be artists or creatives. "They've wanted their whole lives to be special. And they're not special," she said. "They're trying to rob real creative people of our gifts. And you can't. And even if you try, you will never be cool. You guys suck. No one likes you. Anyone who's near you is because they crave power and access over any ethical standard."

the fact that he’s using it for propaganda makes me regret ever painting this

An AI that knows that the answer to "How many L's are in the Maple Leafs?" is innumerable.
Spurious Home Office decisions rejecting student visas are threatening universities' ability to enrol young people from abroad, it is claimed. New rules come into effect in June that will punish universities if more than 4 per cent of study visas are rejected by the Home Office. However, the changes coincide with a marked increase in the numbers of visas being refused by the Home Office on spurious and inaccurate grounds, according to research by universities that has been shared with The Times. Neither students nor universities are able to challenge the decisions, which are often taken months after a university has accepted the applicant and in some cases just days before they are due to start studying.
UKVI carries out discretionary "credibility interviews" to ascertain that a student's intentions to study here are genuine. In another interview, when asked why they had chosen to apply to their chosen institution, the applicant said they had considered several factors, including the university's ranking, employability support, student satisfaction while also noting that it was an ancient institution and cited the year it was founded. The UKVI rejected the application, explaining that they were not satisfied the applicant was genuine given they had quoted the wrong founding year. The university subsequently confirmed that the applicant had provided the correct year and the UKVI caseworker was incorrect, but the decision could not be reconsidered.
In another case a foreign student was rejected from obtaining a visa to study at the University of East Anglia due to a dispute over whether the university was in Norfolk. The applicant asserted correctly that it was, but the UKVI caseworker appeared to confuse Norfolk with Norwich, which is the capital of the county, and rejected the application - believing the applicant was wrong.
In another credibility interview the applicant was asked to describe some of the taught modules they would be studying as part of their degree. The applicant explained that they had been offered a place to study a PhD in biomedical engineering which was fully research-based so did not have any taught modules. Despite this, the UKVI refusal letter stated that they were not satisfied on the basis that their answers were "vague and generic" and had failed to explain the taught modules they would be studying.
It is almost, almost, impressive just how Labour have taken the massively dysfunctional and incompetent Home Office and managed by dint of policies and rhetoric to make it even more dysfunctional and incompetent. It is a true testament to how hostile they are to migrants.

Marathon isn't famous for Iranian peace talks.
Favourite Tarantino by several lengths. Pam Grier is perfect, and Robert Forster accompanies her so well.
(Also a great supporting cast, I love De Niro's turn, but that kinda goes without saying.)
Alex says "well, economy's fucked. Time to start camming." She asks herself "what's my niche?" She gets an idea. She has set up a sexual version of Cow Tools. Her friend says "I don't get it..."
My book Radical Infrastructure came out last week! It goes deep into the political and economic roots of technological infrastructure to explain hype around various technical projects, and counters it with cases of people pushing back.

Games and stories are imitations of life, ways of playing at life, sometimes ways of learning how to live. Some of the rules may appear both cruel and arbitrary. But if you want to play the game, or live the life, you have to follow them.
