Forbidden Fruits: Glitter, Witchcraft, and Total Girl Gang Energy Forbidden Fruits feels like someone took the DNA of Mean Girls, filtered it through a Free People catalogue, added a heavy dose of witchcraft, and then let it spiral into full-on slasher chaos. It’s s...

I had so much fun with Forbidden Fruits I can’t even begin to tell you! It’s one of my favorites this year so far. It’s Mean Girls, but make it witchy with a slice of slasher—an instant cult classic!

Less hiding, more hunting - Samara Weaving returns in a gory, high-energy sequel Ready or Not 2: Here I Come Co-directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have stayed busy since Ready or Not, helming both Scream V and Scream VI, as well as the vampire comedy Abigail. It’s been seven years since Samara...

'Ready or Not 2: Here I Come' plays like the John Wick: Chapter 2 of horror-comedies. It trades a lean, simple concept for double the lore and cast. I enjoyed its bloody mayhem, even if it is filled with bloat.

F1 was the only one I couldn't get through. Just not my thing. Marty Supreme was ok. A lot of anxiety for not much result.

It's the same for our own actual awards, the turgidly titled 'AACTAs'. They don't care about the films, just as long as Richard Roxburgh or Deborah Mailman win.

Every awards ceremony needs Teyana Taylor there for supportive reactions.

Every awards ceremony needs someone as gracious as Ryan Coogler who champions fellow nominees and winners of categories Sinners wasn't even represented in.

Every awards ceremony needs Javier Bardem.

Anyhow, after a very shitty week, and another one on the horizon, the Oscars today were a balm I desperately needed. I didn't think I'd love watching it, but I did.

An impressive recognition of some truly great films from last year.

It's really hard to look at this year's Oscars and find an undeserving winner amongst the bunch. More importantly, you'd be hard pressed to find an undeserving nominee in there too, and if you swapped them out with the winner, it'd be still great.

The borked feed is now only just up to the Golden performance. Sooner the Oscars get onto YouTube the better.

A nitpick, but one nonetheless...

Misery is horror.
Sinners is horror.
Weapons is horror.

Horror isn't a dirty word.

Sinners is a film I'll revisit regularly. One Battle After Another is one I'll think about revisiting regularly, but won't actually re-watch.

A better Bruce than Jeremy Allen White.

Anyhow, congrats to PTA I guess. Will have to now wait two hours to see the winner. What's the point of setting a time limit for a live stream ffs.

Mikey Madison is lovely and I'll never forget interviewing her and she being so impressed by the First Dog on the Moon stuffed toys behind me.
