"I always wanted a Neo Geo, and now I can finally achieve my childhood dream."

Time Out makes more sense.
If reissues of old games brought down the value of the originals, I would be the proud owner of an original Gley Lancer and the box version of Iron Soldier 2 by now.
How about $250?
I would love to see new games, but nothing beats finding the lost work from these original developers.
More than a couple.
Neo Geo games I would like to see released:
Block Paradise
Fun Fun Brothers
Dunk Star
Mystic Wand
Last Odyssey
Eye of Typhoon
Magic Master/Mahou Juku
Crystal Legacy/Chicago
Hebereke no Pair Pair Wars
Warlocks of the Fates
Crossed Swords 2 (cartridge version)
Zintrick (cartridge version)
I take it you weren't reading gaming mags in the 90's. The system was the envy of everyone who did.
Yeah, everyone knows A is red. I hope that's just a misprint.
I don't want them to move the buttons either. Original layout all the way.
Oh @retrofrog.bsky.social, they moved the buttons again. lol
This is truly insane. I've never seen a modern console re-release recreate original hardware like this. It doesn't even use USB controllers.

I'll say it does.
No need to apologize. I'm just trying to gauge our audience.
[Neo-Alec] But no interest in Neo Geo, to be clear?
Yep. I think the issue is that people get a Mister thinking they're getting hardware accuracy, but that may not actually be the case, especially on the cores for the newer systems.
This is the question I had. Thank you.
In one of the strangest games I've ever been asked to cover, the protagonist's wife seems to be turning into a tree. Come discover a weird world brought to life by the art of Naoyuki Kato. This is "Digan no Maseki" on the PC-88!

AKA the correct SNK way. ๐
Even the modern ACA releases use SNK's layout.
The fact that it's going to remember it (that "inferior" mapping) -- Sounds like the best part!
lol, yeah definitely not. Due to the odd layout (I think they probably regret it), your thumb's home row becomes A and B, so I end up using it a bit differently than a standard diamond. And indeed, this is the way that SNK always does the mapping.
Okay, but it would be more clear to illustrate it with a SNES pad. I belive that Y=A is the OG layout.
imo, the NGCD pad is kinda misunderstood. I've been using it since 1997, and the way they laid it out, you end up holding your thumb at a different angle than a SNES or PS pad. Modern SNK's attempt to fix it for the Neo Geo Mini was misguided.
I watched this growing up and I survived. ๐
Everyone uses Y to attack and B to jump on SNES since Super Mario World. I don't know anyone who wants to use A for jump on a SNES pad.
SNK actually follows this in all of their ports since PS1. So SNK themselves have weighed in. It doesn't get more official than that.
The NGCD controller design is weird. If you look at the diamond it looks like you've got it right. However, since A is attack and B is jump in most games, it ends up held differently than a SNES or PS pad. (They actually attempted to correct this by moving the buttons on the Neo Geo Mini pad.)
