Still plenty birds coming to the feeders, Kingfisher breeding. 1st Redstarts.

Wee wonder up by,, The usual subjects, plus my first Swallow and Sand Martin , Strange Osprey turned up and chased off by residents... No Redstarts,, Merlin chasing finches in muddy field on apoproach.

Very Dull in Penicuik as per usual LOL.. Few birds singing including Dipper, did find the nest....

No chance of Courtship Dance today, but did catch one fishing..

After 4 Months the Wintering Water Rail still present on my local patch. Again foraging for fresh water snails in the cold but Sunny weather.

3 months to the Day since I found this bird and he is still here after the pond being frozen for a Month

Few Field feeding Fieldfare today around Loanstone,, Brambling on the Cockmuir road, being hunted by kestrel. Water Rail still in Vallyfield Pond although ice now inches thick.

At least 3 singing dippers on Local Patch,, Water Rail still on Frozen Pond,,, But!! "Pleasantly surprised" seeing a Frog, moving across the frozen Pond ??? Last Day of the year......

The 4th Sparrow Hawk in 3 days,, Sure he knew I was there.

While watching the Sad news coming out of Australia this Lunch Time, There was Clammer and Chaos in the street as a Sparrow Hawk had taken a 1st year STARLING.

Juv Heron on the Esk Penicuik,was looking for Otters seen earlier in week (from photos ) sent to me. NAE JOY.

Nothing exciting really, but had 4 WTE's on Holiday all distant, and Goldie on my Hols earlier this Month..

Had to go back to watch a capture the Local Juv Kingfishers,
Not the best weather but, the plan worked....

This wee fellow kept me company when the Kingfisher was playing hard to get...

Looking good for 2nd Broods already,, 3x nests rung/banded, 20 chicks in all, Male exploring another box....

Local Kingfisher Young left on there own yesterday, nice way to spend time, learning there skills.
