To be clear, Norwegian has gendered words for the same concepts (typen, dama, as two examples of many), I just typically don’t use them.

As an example I don’t know if ‘boyfriend’ / ‘girlfriend’ is interchangeable with ‘partner’ or ‘significant other’.

The words «boyfriend» and «girlfriend» feel … odd.

When used to indicate cishet persons, it feels like you’re saying «I’m in a relationship and the most important thing about this person is their genitalia».

Idk. I’m used to the gender neutral ‘kjæreste’, which emphasises emotion ahead of gender.

Er glad for å være hjemme igjen med roomie, due og alt sånt

Ligger i en krøll i senga og hviler.

Vi fikk mimra litt om da jeg var 17 og bestemora hans lærte meg å bruke spisepinner.

Jeg aner ikke om jeg gjør det ‘riktig’ enda, men … jeg får til å bruke dem, og det sa hun var det viktigste.

Kjæresten introduserte meg til vekt-teppe (framfor dyne), og varmeteppe.

Varmeteppe er smertelindrende for meg, og vekt-teppe er fantastisk for å slappe av.

Han ga meg også utallige minneverdige øyeblikk.

We knew her health was declining. We had the end of life talks.

I am preparing for a funeral k likely can’t attend.

And you know what

If people weren’t so damn keen on stealing native kids for profit I’d have been there with her!

It’s multifaceted grief.

My own health is doing Things and I’m unable to organise fundraisers and updates.

She moved home with our help.

She then went to work, but a criminal gang occupied the area she was working in. Raped and killed, intimidated everyone.

We helped her escape.

Now, her health is gone to shit.

Fuck colonialism.

No one prepared me for the grief of knowing my mum and not being able to travel or help her at what is likely the end stage of her life.

I’m disabled. We’ve helped her a lot. Thanks to everyone here she’s lived long enough to experience freedom.
