YES, this - likewise it had a huge effect on me as a child. I haven’t now seen it in years, but looking forward to the forthcoming BFI release.
Nope on those "Autism is overdiagnosed!!!" headlines. Autism is UNDERdiagnosed, and undiagnosed autistic people's autistic traits and associated health and care needs are denied, leading to avoidable suffering and unfairly reduced quality of life.

It’s the 25th anniversary of Amélie and Autism Awareness month so I thought I’d celebrate by writing about both for A Rabbit’s Foot. a-rabbitsfoot.com/stories/the-...
I’ve supported this! Which includes writing from the brilliant @bunnydarke.bsky.social amongst others. You can help em out too. DEAD PRETTY: Beauty in the Horror Genre www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/deadpretty...

Can AI produce magick? (Presuming that magick is the manipulation of reality by aesthetics).
I wrote this a few months after David Lynch passed away. I will love him forever, and I feel like the way that he approached life fundamentally reshaped mine for the better. I love the way that he thought about art, and about people, and cherishing life's small joys.

Jimmy Stewart haunts the work of Lynch. His everyman qualities and goodwill in his pre-WWII films & then the shades of darkness that came up when he returned home is all over the characters he asked MacLachlan to play. Stewart is the perfect Lynch actor. It's a shame they were on different timelines

Hello! My CEO Roscoe and I are giving away TWO signed copies of my novel 1983 to two randomly selected people who repost this & pop a reply below. You also get a free postcard of this illustration of Roscoe by my mum.
It’s been called “Stranger Things rewritten by Kurt Vonnegut & Sue Townsend”…
Oh absolutely. I’ve seen a lot of those attitudes still prevail.
By the same logic don’t let a child use a wheelchair, they’ll only come across some stairs later on.

My black and white can’t wait to get stuck into some black and white.
Hellooo! Can’t wait to get stuck into this one!
A pile of small circular stickers that say The Movie Lovers Quiz below an image of film cells & a film spool.
The lovely team at @summersdalebooks.bsky.social made me stickers for the launch quiz last night! Come along to @oldwoollen.bsky.social on Sunday & you can have one. Who doesn’t love a sticker?
The trailer for the new Naked Gun movie is one of the most painfully unfunny things I’ve ever seen.
Depicted are two stills from the 3rd Doctor serial Carnival of Monsters. The top image is of Jo and the 3rd Doctor. The bottom image is of a Drashig that startles them in one of the serial's cliffhangers. I've replaced the Drashig with one of the Dugga Doo singers from the 15th Doctor era episode The Interstellar Song Contest.
I don't usually mind the Doctor Who Blu-rays' remastered special effects, but this newfangled Drashig look is really creeping me out.

First, we had Disability Rights, then we had Disability Justice, and now I would like to unveil my own framework: Disability Vengeance.
Black and white cat Evie relaxes in the sun after her victory in the ring.
The cats had a fight. One drew blood! Of course they’re friends again now. But I’m having to Google “how to get blood out of a carpet.” Quietly terrified the Police are about to turn up.
I’ve only gone and booked The Sugar Hill Gang.
This is a journey through the astonishing highs and lows of one of Britain’s most famous men from history. But there’s so much you don’t know...

World Book Day you say? Here’s a great book I’ve just finished. The true horror is child birth!
Had a couple of chatters in my screening of The Monkey. As it says in Deuteronomy better to cut your tongue out than chat through the film.
Performed by two puppeteers and a multi-instrumentalist, The Paper Cinema invite you to step into a mesmerising realm where storytelling and visual artistry intertwine.
