Reminder that we have a list we curate and constantly update tracking every game coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and when then they release! Probably worth a bookmark 😉

omg this list is 🔥 excited for hades II
lolll I was like are these hieroglyphics?? it was fun though!
it’s a no-brainer - this strategy capitalizes on Netflix’s competitive advantage in the original content space and scales back on unprofitable ventures like AAA/indie games.
a smart next move is to acquire @jackboxgames.com - aligns perfectly with their current strategy and infrastructure/UI!!!
finally a clear strategy coming out of Netflix’s gaming business.
Netflix announced that it will focus on 4 pillars: narrative games, multiplayer party games, games for kids, and "mainstream" releases.
zelda fans are pretty intense, so you do not want to be on the receiving end of a nerd with a triforce tattoo. all that to say, yall better not fuck up this IP!!
part of the reason why these adaptations are so successful is because they already have a built-in fanbase. however, this is also a double edge sword, since fans will be the first to riot if a show/movie fail to capture the essence of their favorite game
honestly i’m here for the trend of hollywood + other streaming services embracing video game adaptations.
we’ve seen some killer movies/shows like The Last of Us, Castlevania, Detective Pikachu, and Arcane.
second!!!
i think this is definitely a grey area in genAI that needs to be looked closely at in the coming years.
for ex: what are these models trained on? who owns these input/output? what are the economic impact to smaller artists and are they receiving proper recognition for their works?
while style isn’t protected under current copyright law, i can see arguments for why it should be... artists spend their whole lives developing a unique style that makes them marketable—isn’t this what should be protected?
i think this announcement highlights a strategic move from Nintendo to encourage more digital purchases (which has higher margins) and crack down on secondary markets that resell their physical game cards
as the line between gaming and earning blurs, we're seeing a revolution in player engagement and retention. whether you're a gamer or developer, this trend is reshaping the gaming landscape as we know it. exciting times ahead for the entire industry!
some interesting web3 gaming projects that I’ve been following though are:
- immutable.com
- bigtime.gg (shoutout to yall ❤️)
- illuvium.io
i think there’s no other movement that is poised to gain more from this trend than web3 gaming. although the ethos is there, game quality/mechanics/UI/UX have a long way to go to draw in and engage enough mainstream players
this highlights an important shift + rethinking of conventional mobile gaming business models from P2P (pay to play) to P2E (play to earn). players are now seeking out ways to earn real-world rewards from their gaming time, weighing value when choosing their next mobile title
research from Almedia found that 50% of mobile players have received real-world rewards from games. what’s even more interesting is that 72% of those players say rewards are important when choosing new games to download…
real-world rewards are literally changing the game. here’s what you need to know about this growing trend in the mobile gaming industry 👇🏼
a great example of a product that failed to specialize and innovate with the market. Skype was always doing too much (like comeon landline calls??) and completely missed the video conferencing train during the pandemic
but shoutout to u Skype for pioneering the space. lost but never forgotten
yessss the audiobook selection is fiyahhh on libby

i binged this show!! so good
omg the ending had me gagged!!!
this is some good bad advice
hahaha i was referring to the AI 😅
my hunch is that there are better areas to invest in than an "Al wingman" maybe start with the casual racism and nonstop ads on the platform first
while i don’t think AI should be integrated in every single piece of tech now, i do see the benefits in a queer chatbot, esp for those earlier in their coming out process
whether this tech should be a part of Grindr is different question… a matter of user data and privacy.
