Coming up in a few hours on #HoPWaG: Karyn and I speak to Bryan Van Norden, one of the most prominent and eloquent interpreters of Chinese philosophy!

We ask him, among other things, how should we convince skeptics to make the effort to investigate non-European philosophical traditions?

I went to the poker room at Resorts World Catskills on Friday. Played $1/$3 NLHE. Bought in for $302, cashed out for $1207. 😎 My dog Diego was, once again, fascinated by my hand histories.

Love the new poker room at Resorts World Catskills, and not just because last night I bought in for $311 and cashed out for $812. My dog Diego was very interested in my poker stories.

Andrew's service in the Royal Navy during the Falklands War was actually creditable, though not more so than that of many others, and he was probably at the peak of his career when he returned. (pp. 52-55)

Andrew went to Gordonstoun boarding school, like his father and his brother Charles. A classmate described him as "a pompous git," and he was beaten up so badly by his classmates that he had to go to the infirmary. (p. 32)

Sarah Ferguson's mother had an affair with Prince Philip (Sarah's future father-in-law), and later left Sarah's father for an Argentinian polo player. Sarah's elder sister ran off with an Australian rancher at the age of 16. (pp. 27-29)

Someone who knew Andrew as a child said he wad already "a tiresome little shit," who regularly reminded everyone that he was a prince. (p.23)

Currently reading this. It was rushed into print because Giuffre's book was coming out, so there are lots of formatting errors, like footnotes in the middle of a page, and what should be block quotes set as ordinary text. But the content is interesting. 1/

I study fascism. I’ve already fled America. On this week’s “More To The Story,” former Yale philosophy professor Jason Stanley explains his recent move to Canada and calls the Trump administration’s takeover of the US government a “coup.”

“A coup is happening in the United States.”

Jason Stanley, author of How Fascism Works, argues that President Donald Trump is leading an unlawful takeover of the US government.

It feels so on the nose that Stephen Miller is such an obviously creepy loser and he also has this politics. The least subtle morality play about racists basically entirely accurately characterises the sorta people they are.

Q: My condolences on the loss of your friend Charlie Kirk. How are you holding up?

TRUMP: I think very good. And by the way, right there you see all the trucks. They just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House, which is something they've been trying to get for about 150 years.
