Same intuition that leads people to believe that winning numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6 are less likely to win than say 12,20,25,34,45,48.

Can you help me with something? If you had to do one of these questions in front of a crowd of people, which one would you want to do LEAST? Ask your friends and family. Thanks! @howiehua.bsky.social

February 14, 1985. Forty years ago today, my parents and I, along with cousins and my uncle landed in Canada (to a snow storm!) and started an amazing journey. Grateful.

Such different skill sets for the little one to develop whether on the court or in the pool. Happy to see she loves them both.

Collaborating with another teaching teaching the same course this year has led to such richer learning experiences for students. Amazing how you can improve a task through tweaks year to year. Students way more engaged with tessellations this time around.

Me: It can be tough balancing work, writing, family, and a long list of things to do.

Also me: Spend hours and hours staying up late all week dreaming up ideas and tinkering the PD session tomorrow.

Trying to do right by teachers. Hard to resist when you get into that state of flow.

Students are used to Pythagorean theorem as an equation to find an unknown side. We explored how viewing the sides as a ratio and a tool like this could create right angles when building something. Nuanced difference. Credit to CEMC at @uofwaterloo.bsky.social but they aren't on here yet!

The cutouts really invited collaboration. The task naturally started out with an "oops...I forgot" flavor because half the groups limited themselves to fractions less than or equal to 1 then looked around the room.
