1. Stephen King
Facebook just reminded me that eleven years ago today my first book came out (The Assassin's Curse, now repubbed as Magic of Blood and Sea).
People will still tag me with fan art and such about it, which is neat!
In my opinion, if a book has a sex scene in it, that sex scene is important. Think about it, the writer had to wait until his mom went to bed and he had to write it late at night so he wouldn’t get in trouble. It had to be very important to go through all that
Hahaha they're done for
THIS COMES OUT ON HALLOWEEN? @hollylynwalrath.bsky.social you are living the dream.
I also want to get back to reading Throne of Bones by Brian McNaughton but a library hold waits for no woman
I'm really enjoying reading Eye of the World for the first time but there's no way I'm finishing this before I have to give it back to the library lmao
Today is the 76th birthday of the late great Tanith Lee, my favorite author. She wrote unique sword and sorcery, sensuous dark fantasy, unsettling Gothic horror, strange sci-fi, and even whimsical children's books.
One of the greats!
Will I DO any of the things people are trying?
Probably not lmao
But I'm still curious
Gotta say I'm curious about this myself.
Anyway, I am tired of social media and derive no real joy from any of it aside from Tumblr, so I'm just going to try to make Bluesky as Tumblr-esque as I can and just share stuff I like.
Ugh, that first tweet (or whatever) should say "pulled me out of a year-long reading SLUMP)
What I like about both books is he pairs the orc up with a female characters who serves as the audience's entry into the story. Plus, I just love sword and sorcery

Right now I'm reading Twilight of the Gods by Scott Oden, which is the second book in a sword and sorcery series with an orc anti-hero!
Reading the first one (A Gathering of Ravens) pulled me out of a literal year-long reading earlier this year. I literally had not finished a book until that one.
Thrilled that my novella THE BEAST YOU’VE MADE OF ME is being published by @interstellarflight.bsky.social!! I can’t wait for you to read my queer zombie revenge story! 🖤✨

I broke down and put a request on the first Wheel of Time book at the library. I was never interested in these books before but I freaking LOVE the show. The nerd rage about it suggests I may be disappointed but WE SHALL SEE.

The cover of September 2023's issue of Nightmare Magazine, featuring a gargoyle with red eyes floating in front of stone masonry and a stained glass window.
Nightmare Magazine and @wnwagner.bsky.social's latest issue features @pedroiniguez.bsky.social and a truly fantastic cover. Whoever did that cover has *definitely* played some Demon's Souls, unless I am much mistaken.

Been feeling extremely bummed about the publishing industry lately but at least it feels like everyone else is too.
Here we go again.
I said the EXACT SAME THING on FB yesterday (it got me an invite though, even though I wasn't actually angling for one). I still think it's BS
