Right?! I just want to put on a light sweater and some long jeans. Even a long sleeved shirt would be great.

I miss who I was in 2019. The past 5 years have turned me hard and cynical.
Screenshot of a "blip" from CNN on Monday, August 11th. DC Crackdown: President Donald Trump announced he is placing the Washington DC police department "under direct federal control" and deploying National Guard troops to the nation's capital. The move comes after Trump ordered a seven-day surge in federal law enforcement within the city last week, pointing to several high-profile crimes.
This is fine; everything is fine. It's fine. ๐
CNN Headline dated June 18, 2025 that reads, Social Security won't be able to pay full benefits in 2034 if Congress doesn't act.
In 2034 my spouse will be 68. Just saw this news story come across my feed and had to laugh because 23 years ago he won a costume contest where the theme was "Come as your favorite myth". He wore a sweatshirt that read "Your Social Security is just fine and will be waiting for you upon retirement."
Yes and YES; certainly were; most assuredly yes.
Who takes care of the caregivers when the caregivers need care?

I just learned that Eldest Daughter Syndrome is a thing that exists.
I wonder what it's like to not know anyone that has done a fundraiser to pay for medical bills or rent or groceries or emergency travel/funeral expenses.
Sepia-toned photo of my Mom taken in 1966 or 1967.
This is the 7th Mother's Day since I lost her. I still miss her every day, but the tears don't fall as often as they used to.
Just finished watching Dying for Sex on Hulu. I love dark comedy, I've lost someone to cancer, and I've been The Caretaker. This show "gets it". It's beautiful and amazing and funny and heartbreaking and everyone should watch it. The last episode is....wow. ๐๐๐
A young Val Kilmer from the movie Real Genius. He is wearing a T-shirt that reads I โค๏ธ Toxic Waste with a jacket over it.
I'm gonna miss this man.
Screenshot of a paragraph discussing possible origins of April Fools Day. Highlighted text reads: the new year would no longer begin on Easter, but rather on January 1. Those who clung to the old ways were the "April Fools".
I was curious so I did a quick search on the origins of April Fools Day. I've studied enough history to feel like this seems a plausible story. I also found it really interesting that there are so many countries that "celebrate" the same way on the 1st of April. #BoringFacts #ResearchForNoReason

2 part cartoon: The left side shows a dog in a hat sitting at a table with fire burning behind it. The dog appears to be clearing his throat. The right side shows the same dog screaming THIS IS NOT FINE!!
With each passing day, I find it more difficult to just go about my life and pretend everything will be okay.
Five-Item Geriatric Depression Scale 1. Are you basically satisfied with your life? 2. Do you often get bored? 3. Do you often feel helpless? 4. Do you prefer to stay at home rather than going out and doing new things? 5. Do you feel pretty worthless the way you are now? Note: A "No" response to question 1, or a "yes" response to questions 2 through 5 each counts as one point. A score of two or more points is considered a positive screen.
Took my 76 year old father to his PCP today and the RN began his visit by asking him the first 4 questions on this list. When I asked why, she said it was to see if he was depressed. Then I said, "he's not the one you should worry about". They both laughed. ๐ #EverythingIsFine
I give up.
Screenshot of an image of a couple in ridiculous clothing with the text: Billionaire co-founder of AirBnB Joe Gebbia has joined Elon Musk's ROGE team, so let's spread awareness and make sure nobody books a gaddamn thing through AirBnB ever again, shall we?
I'm so happy that I decided to stop hosting an AirBnb. Along with large corporations stealing housing and escalating rent costs in so many cities, now there's this.
When I was 19 I took a class called Culture During the N*zi Era. It was taught by a man who lost both sets of grandparents in the Camps. The entire class focused on the propaganda and grooming used by the N*zis. I wish more people had taken a class like it; things might be different right now.
"You can't pour from an empty cup." But....you can keep hitting the cup on the counter until you cause a hairline fracture that will eventually widen and the cup will finally just shatter. ๐ Oh, I'm fine, why do you ask?
This is even better than listening to Gaga!
I was only today years old when I realized that listening to Salsa music is PERFECT when you have a lot to do and little motivation to do it. Why didn't I know this already?!?!?
Couldn't sleep last night so I spent the time going over every awkward/awful interaction I've ever had. Ya know, like ya do. ๐คฃ
What's surprising to me is how many people are shocked by what the orange lint ball and his billionaire buddies are doing. "Why isn't the military stepping in?" "How can they just do away with all these government agencies?" It's like they just never listened when they were warned about P25.
This gif accurately represents me every day for the last 15 years "doing nothing for the community".

Me with my mohawk and my resting b*tch face wearing a leather jacket (that I loved) and long earrings (that I made).
Just came across a pic of myself from 2019 when I had a mohawk. *sigh* I miss that haircut, but I just don't have the energy anymore that's required to HAVE that haircut. ๐
Once I figured out what it was and how to do it, it became routine.
Cover of a book by Sarah Clegg titled The Dead of Winter Beware the Krampus and Other Wicked Christmas Creatures.
Reading this #book by Sarah Clegg. Just read this: "I'm as pro wassailing as the next person, but I am baffled by a newspaper that thinks wassails are what will mend our society rather than a re-instatement of the social safety net, and perhaps a touch less racism, misogyny and transphobia." โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
