Surprisingly absent from the options: humility. Seems strange.

Agree.
intention and tone really matter - I was only addressing the principle. I'm very unenthusiastic about a lot of US political evangelicalism. But that's not all 'conservative evangelicalism' is, and some of it, as you said, can hardly claim to be Christian. The details are complex, though.
It's really good to read this appreciation. The ability to disagree strongly without trashing those we disagree with needs more standard bearers. (I'm a fairly conservative Brush evangelical Christian ๐)
And if he doesn't change, then they want God to prevent him from having an influence that they regard as seriously harmful. In principle, that's a reasonable Christian approach. (Obviously, the real question is whether they are right about Talarico. But it doesn't help to misrepresent them.)
I listened to the clip referred to and I think the article misrepresents what was being said, at least up to a point. They were wanting Talarico to experience a spiritual death and rebirth, to begin with. It wasn't a death threat.
I would love to see the Outernet's metrics as I bet one of the human statues at the London Eye or Trafalgar Square can match their numbers.
guy holding GOLF SALE sign the UKโs most visited cultural attraction
'Cultural attraction' can be quite a low bar. Cf 'iconic'.
Maybe they count everyone coming out of the TCR exit? Not all 'attracted', for sure!
Always amazed how inaccurate people can be about distances in central London. It's not a full mile. Google maps says 0.6 mile.
(Reminder: #Soho is 1/4 sq mile ๐)
Wow! This is powerful.
Good short thread on Trump, along with article in third post.
Impressive!
Always enjoy these reports, Lewis. This one shows the value of a good local candidate. I'm sure we often miss out on good candidates within communities who (unlike Grauberg) are outside the party system. Smart parties would do well to make room for them, but would need to allow some independence.
I hadn't thought of that. I guess racism often misuses language, and it can be quite varied. But I'd presumed this was part of the old attitude of British racism which assumed all foreigners were inferior, including Spaniards. (There's probably some evidence for this at European soccer matches.)
You'd have thought there might be quite a few 'foreigners' in Spain.
Was he enthusiastically pro-Trump, ignoring all the downsides? Or reluctantly pro-Trump, recognising the downsides but also seeing some positives compared with the Democratic opposition? (And more importantly, are you enjoying Botswana? Interesting choice of destination!)
Interesting features. Perhaps more people should carry a magnifying glass.
Is that the guy who is too scared to use his phone on the street in London?
Funniest thing is that Tories can't object on principle, because of Paul Fisher. So serious concern about Reform shows in very personal attack on X from Paul Swaddle. Whatever you think about policy, Westminster Labour leadership is some way ahead in reasonable and civil public discourse.
First time I can remember being interested (and ignorant) enough to follow up a newspaper ad by a big company.

Are they mostly Londoners or international tiktok followers, do you think?
Leaving with character and reputation intact.
Poch and Ange gave us the highs. Daniel Levy has given us the lows. (Taking away the credit he should have from appointing them in the first place, and from the business achievements of the stadium, etc).
You give journalism a good name, Ian. Well done!
Interesting to see if Ange accepts the apology.
Maybe. But sounds like recognition of a genuine mistake to me, 'I got it wrong, sorry'. Don't think he'd be accepted by others as a reporter on the club if deliberate sensationalism was his usual practice. Seems out of character.
So pleased for him.
Good response to a poor word choice, rightly challenged. If only the world had more of this!
