🌭 Video Game Hot Dogs was you?!

I love this kind of thing, and relished the opportunity to bring hot dogs to the Skylanders universe! 🌭

Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck recommended we include healthier food choices! 🌭🌭🌭

As @gamedevmap.com grows from a "me" community service project into a "we" nonprofit, you'll see fewer personal posts.

My mom once wrote what she was grateful for about me:
"Your ability to dream dreams, and your tenacity to make them a reality, even if it takes a long time."

Missing her today.

This is hard for the creative work we do in video games, but one bit of feedback I get from people on the outside is to quantify your bullet points, like optimization gains by percentage, number of people managed, units sold, et cetera. This something I continue to struggle with, myself.

A little bird told me the stork develops games all by himself with Generative AI. Definitely the stork.

It was the origin of friendships that have lasted decades. May the Force be with you, Starfighter team.

Starfighter was the project where I grew to feel responsible for my larger team, and saw what was possible when coworkers could come together with trust and friendship beyond the traditional game development silos of art, design, engineering, and production.

We had a secure room at LucasArts where we could view in-progress footage from the film as it came together. Using that reference, I built an in-game PS2 version of the city of Theed, ultimately cut from the shipping game.

We developed the game in parallel with the production of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, with the privilege of telling an original story that lived adjacent to the film. I was thrilled to work on something closer to a simulation after my time on Star Wars: Rogue Squadron for the N64.

February 19, 2026 marked 25 years since Star Wars: Starfighter launched on PlayStation 2.

I optimized the Naboo Starfighter from a densely triangulated high-res mesh (no UVs) provided by Industrial Light & Magic, long before procedural mesh reduction and retopology workflows were standard in games.

That’s amazing, @duncanrobson.com!

I wish my parents had kept some of my work from those years, because there’s something magical about witnessing that kind of continuity on a decades-long timescale!

Same. No regrets about doing all my research in early 2024. I was unhappy about where Windows 12 was going, Intel’s chip drama, etc. I was a bit early in planning for this moment, but my M4 MacBook Pro is going to get me through the next couple of hardware cycles and this next chapter in my life.
