Gotta love April in #Vancouver.

Not sure what she’s been feeding them but my wife’s spring tulips are exceptionally big and beautiful this year. 💐

I never take living in #Vancouver for granted but at this time of year, I am especially grateful. The city is awash in springtime oases. Some seem like hidden little gems that only stay around a short while, so I thought I’d share some we came across on our walk this morning to brighten timelines.

If there ever was a compelling example of the value of universal health care, it’s this. Our system has problems, all do, but I am grateful we don’t have a system that has us celebrating a grandmother delivering DoorDash to pay for cancer treatments. Thank you Tommy Douglas for #Canadian foresight 🙏

Magyar promises Hungary will be strong ally in the EU and NATO Final results won’t be known for several hours yet and with voter turnout at a record 77.8%, the highest ever recorded in a Hungarian election, there are plenty of ballot papers to count.

NATO allies better be prepared to show #Hungary strong support when the vitriol, threats & accusations of a rigged election start flowing. They might not until the middle of the night, but you know they’re coming. And don’t let the Secretary-General speak for the group.

Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán concedes election defeat, spelling end to his 16-year rule | CBC News Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán conceded defeat in Sunday's Hungarian election, ending his 16 years in power.

#Hungary for the win! And in spite of open interference by another country in its democratic process. Good for them, good for the world!!“Orbán's exit would deprive Putin of his main ally in the EU & send shockwaves through right-wing circle including Trump's White House.”

Like mangoes? 🥭 Ever had one from India? When it comes to mango production, India outpaces all countries by a lot but it’s likely you haven’t had one from there…unless you are there. Most of their output is consumed domestically driven by population scale and cultural demand. #food

'Blind alleys are always opportunities': The scientist who developed the polio vaccine On 12 April 1955, Dr Jonas Salk announced that his vaccine was safe and effective – but he refused to profit from it.

April 1955. Polio #vaccine announced as safe and effective.

It is not a stretch to think Dr. Salk would be mortified at the state of the things today.

Living in #Vancouver you endure some very grey, very wet periods in the winter but this is the reward.

It’s April 4th and some of our perennials are blooming, the tulips are ready to pop, the Arbutus tree has its deep spring green going on and I am prepping the patio for outdoor living. 😎⛱️🌻 #spring

Vancouver health-care workers provide safety advice about drug use for FIFA World Cup visitors | CBC News Health-care workers in Vancouver are issuing safety advice around illicit drugs and alcohol for the thousands of people who are expecting to visit the region for the upcoming FIFA Men's World Cup.

This story blows up one of the most damaging myths of the toxic drug crisis, that it only affects “those people.” It doesn’t. Stigma has shaped our conversations and our responses for far too long & it’s costing lives. This is what the crisis actually looks like when you strip away the stereotypes.

Dropped a nice bit of #Canadian 🇨🇦 slang on the Scrabble board today!

My wife rolled her eyes and laughed when I laid down - GIVER.

Wasn’t enough to win but honestly, when I laid down those tiles, it felt so good I didn’t care.

Sometimes, you’ve just got to “give’r”.

When day ☀️meets night 🌝.

Beautiful sunset tonight in #Vancouver, giving the buildings in our neighborhood a warm orange glow and with an almost full moon already in plain view. (Sadly, the camera on my phone and my lack of photography skills, do not do the moon the justice it deserves.)

It’s like #Vancouver is uttering a collective “ahhh” right now. 😮‍💨☀️😎

After a week of steady, heavy rains thanks to an “atmospheric river” that refused to budge, today the rain abruptly stopped, the sun came out and it feels glorious.

What stands out here isn’t who’s at the table but why the collaboration works. Shared values, pragmatism, and a focus on long‑term outcomes matter at a time when steady, principled partnerships can deliver more than louder, less reliable ones. Quiet cooperation can make a real difference. #Canada

The biggest release of emergency oil stockpiles in history was announced. Why crude may keep rising Oil prices have surged more than 17% since the International Energy Agency announced the largest release of crude stockpiles in its 50-year history.

…like should governments step during crises like this (beyond releasing reserves) - because it seems this clearly only scratches the surface?

The biggest release of emergency oil stockpiles in history was announced. Why crude may keep rising Oil prices have surged more than 17% since the International Energy Agency announced the largest release of crude stockpiles in its 50-year history.

The answer? Markets could cap prices, but they won’t.

They’re built to maximize profit, not fairness or stability. Without political intervention, markets do exactly what they’re designed to do, even when the social costs are high. Which leads to other questions…

🤔 If oil prices are set by international markets, which are human systems designed to value things for profit, why can’t those same markets agree to cap prices during crises?

When supply is disrupted, price spikes feel less like economics and more like profiteering.
