everyone should know that if you're on windows explorer, F2 will go directly to renaming the currently selected file
we have to rename files all the time so this is a small but worthwhile shortcut
love yourself and use F2

S08E04 - "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" by Megadeth Kirk surfs an avalanche straight into Thrash Valley, where he delves into the depths of Megadeth's 1990 opus "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due." It's an unstoppable rockslide of layered riffs, tempo sh...

The newest episode of Strong Songs is about Megadeth's "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due." 🎸🤘🏼🎶

This episode was a blast to make - it gave me a new appreciation for Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman, and for how well they complemented one another.

Hope you dig it, thanks for listening!

5am fire alarm evacuation was fun!
Luckily nothing was on fire, but the system had to be forced off. If there's a fire between now and the system being fixed, we gotta manually notice.
Can't say I love that!

Sigh it's tough. I played 2 and I fully completely love it, the writing really is incredibly good. And the lead VA Tom McKay is one of the nicest people I've ever met, truly an absolute sweetheart

But I just can't recommend the game to anyone because Vavra is such a dipshit.

Loved the ending, how incomplete some stories were just felt realistic, not disappointing. Except for Dr Mohan, I think her arc ended with a painful fizzle, no silver lining.

Big save on mom+baby who didn't want medical help, just relief from pain, was cool! but maybe on the nose metaphorically.

“It’s a couple of things that work beautifully in concert. First: no music. Audiences are so sophisticated, but what they’re not accustomed to is not being told how to feel,” Wyle says. “You take all that out and it forces a level of engagement where you’re now looking for clues within the frame of the screen, which forces you to look up from your phone. And I think that is extremely engaging, especially to young viewers who aren’t accustomed to being asked to participate in a nonpassive way in the viewing experience.

“Second point, shooting it with almost exclusively 50-millimeter or 65-millimeter lenses, which is the most comparable to the human eye—and only shooting from the point of view of a human being that’s present in this space. There are no cameras on gurney wheels going in the hallway. There’s no cameras on the ceiling looking down from a God point of view. You are limited to the perspective of a participant. You can look away, but you can’t leave, and it becomes an endurance test for you to stay on your feet as long as we’re on our feet. Which [brings me to my] third point: real time. Real time has an aggregate sense of tension that you don’t get in any other form of storytelling. What happened before is happening now, and these two things are going to add up to the next thing. And if we throw more ingredients into this cooker and keep ratcheting it up, it’s going to pop.”

Wyle makes eye contact for his next point, delivering it with a Robby-esque matter-of-factness. “Fourth point: The election went the other way,” he says with a shrug. “We could have been a really good show with a lot of nice things to say in a perfectly normal Kamala Harris universe. And instead we became almost a beacon of hope and humanity in an alternative universe. But in the midst of that, fifth point—this is essentially competence porn. You’re watching really smart, dedicated people do what only they know how to do at a level that you don’t know how to do it, and you’re so fucking glad that they’re there doing it, and compartmentalizing their own stuff to put your broken pieces back together. You’re so reassured by knowing that there are people out there that laugh and joke and have the ability to lock in like that.”

Everything else is kinda whatever floats down the timeline from other people. Even if the above, I'm checking out what the podcasts are recommending.

Fanart or Dave from Homestuck. He is redheaded because that was the fanon at the time. He is spinning two vinyls that also have gears on them. There is lava in the background.

game narratives are able to ask important questions of humanity and let us live out the consequences. questions like, "what if a man had to hang out with a pre-teen girl" and "what if a pre-teen girl had to rely entirely on a man" and "what if a pre-teen girl had powers, and also, a man was there"

PLEASE CHECK OUT MY FRIEND'S GUIDE TO SWANA/ARAB CLOTHING!!!!! ESPECIALLY FFXIV PEOPLE WHO PLAY THAVNAIRIAN/CORVOSI/ALA MHIGAN CHARACTERS IM BEGGING YOU. orientalism erases the true beauty of these cultures and their traditional clothing and makes these valuable references VERY hard to find!!!

I've been really actively cutting back on caffeine lately, just 1 morning cup
I've been noticing the difference at night
I actually slow down and get sleepy when the sky goes dark
I'm sleeping 7-8 hours, not 5-6

I love coffee but I think the caffeine has been affecting me a lot more than I thought

I feel like this genre of fake screenshot fanart is usually so prone to looking a little too obviously artificial and then meanwhile these are all like. pitch perfect for all the styles and medium limitations they're going for. what the fuck

The environment one is the biggest mindfuck to me. I grew up in a fairly conservative religious school and there they were like "we solved the ozone hole, next up is clean energy for everyone! It's obviously happening!"
It never occurred to me /ever/ that ANYONE would resist that.

Hmm. Lifestyle, basically. Decent job, decent pay, apartment, cat. Yep, roughly as I pictured.

I genuinely didn't picture constant anxiety about politics, governments trying to kill my friends, backsliding on pollution, the dismantling of health care globally, and enshittification of everything.

2-0 into 0-2 at Riftbound today. One egregious midplay I could identify, multiple "I mulliganed and still had no play til t3" moments.
When I lose at Magic, I just want to stop playing for the weekend. When I lose at Riftbound, I want to immediately play again. Grrrrr.
