It’s not in the national interest to keep clearing precious forests, push species to extinction and risk Perth’s drinking water. Enough is enough, no more exemptions.

Alcoa will pay an unprecedented $55 million through enforceable undertakings to remediate historical land clearing, the largest conservation‑focused commitment of its kind.

🚨 #BREAKING: Shocking new revelations suggest mining giant Alcoa could be in breach of its mining exemption conditions in WA’s Northern Jarrah Forest, after a significant endangered black cockatoo nesting tree was found to have been impacted by mining activity. #westernaustralia #wildoz

The required 10m buffer was minimal, but still Alcoa could not get it right.

If Alcoa has broken the exemption order; they have been caught out, and the exempted mining must be halted immediately.

Alcoa was told to protect magnificent habitat trees of this kind because of their undeniable importance for black cockatoo breeding.

A single tree threatens to disrupt US mining giant Alcoa's expansion in Western Australia, with the company under investigation over an alleged breach of its state-imposed mining conditions.

Over the past 6 years, the land around this significant jarrah tree was cleared and mined or turned into road. Now, it has died, likely as a result of the disturbance.

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions must cease summer burns and protect the Tingles.

With hundreds of bushfires across the state in the past few weeks, reigniting Vermulen Rd would be both an irresponsible use of resources and a risk to the survival of these magnificent fire-sensitive trees.

The Vermuelen Rd block, just over 1km from the Treetop Walk has been burnt in sections since October.
Now, just a few small pockets remain, some with Tingles exceeding 5m in diameter.

Prescribed burn in Walpole angers Tingle Action Group who say DBCA has backflipped on moratorium (A prescribed burn east of Walpole has alarmed the Tingle Action Group, who say the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is going back on its pre-Christmas promise not to start new burns.) and 2. Burn concerns spark protest in Denmark, residents line the streets in bid to halt planned Walpole burn.

Whilst three Tingle blocks were removed from the prescribed burn plan just before Christmas, some Tingles remain in the firing line.
