I'd love to hear more vocal samples, but it isn't lost on me that the strongest songs (Involutions, Transcoding, Continuum) don't have any. This isn't music you want to be sitting down - or even inside - for. It makes you want to move, to fuck shit up!

There are so many sounds being toyed with - it's apparent that even within jungle she's drawing from a range of influences. Convulsions is clearly the most ambitious project so far, and it's great. It's more experimental, there are more noises, one song will often transition between several moods.

Ok, this is epic. I started with the Proliferations EP and was actually blown away by the first track. I listened to the last four EPs (there are many), and they broadly get better chronologically. I love the drum & bass vibe and how much fun Athko clearly has making the songs.

I think she is very good at capturing the different mindsets and minor psychoses induced by particular ideological cliques - and extending from this, the interactions (or lack thereof) between different cliques and how they ignore reality to produce rhetorically convenient narratives.

Something that reminds me of Cervantes is how Laura begins by implying that the text isn't fictional - in Don Quixote, there are several layers of narration that sort of collapse into one another at points in the book.

I want to start with a play that @mfingdeergirl2sday.bsky.social sent me in 2023. The play is in Spanish, and unlike when I first looked at it, I've now actually read Don Quixote and I better understand the many references to that book throughout the text.
